New gecko - feeding question

I just picked up a new leo from the local pet shop, he has been exploring his cage all day and seems very active. I've put a couple of mealworms in front of him and he seems completely uninterested, also I put a bowl of mealies in case he got hungry later, but nothing. I started to worry a bit, and on a whim, threw a cricket in there. He prompty chased it down and devoured it. Its good to see that hes eating crickets, but mealies are much easier to deal with for me, does any one have any ideas on how to get him to eat mealworms?

You can try giving him only mealworms and hoping that he'll get hungry enough to change his mind, but some leos can be awful stubborn. He may go for awhile without eating anyway as he settles in.

Well you can't make him eat anything he does not want to eat maybe he has never had mealworms befor and petshops sometimes do not give them nothing but crickets so thats why they will go for that one of my female leo I got her from a petshop and they gave nothing but crickets so at first she did not take mealworms or waxsworms so I gave her time and then oneday she finely started to eat the mealworms so I say give it time you are probaly going to have to stick with crickets for a while then later on try the mealworms and see if your leo will take them good luck.

When I feed my leo worms i hand feed her. I have super worms, but what I do is take the worms & hold it right in the middle of it's body with its head pointing up to your wrist. Dip it's tail in calcium & just barely touch it to your leos nose it get him to lick it. My leo will lick the calcium a little bit, then grabs the worms & just chugs it down.

You might could try that & see if it'll work, it always works for my leo, she loves calcium, so much so that I think she gets calcium hangovers, lol

Thanks guys, hes too small for supers, but I'll give him some time for mealies, and if not, ill just do crickets
