well i just got the gecko here today and i had to buy a few things for him/he since the previews owner didnt had nothing but a hide and a water dish like some meal worms and a light with a ceramic bulb and a heating mat and my question is should i keep the ceramic bulb on the whole time?????? and also its getting 91.3 with the ceramic thing at the bottom, should i still use the mat???? i havent opened the mat yet since i fist want to make sure im doing it right , the bottom on the tank is 91.3 under the bulb but inside the warm hide is 78.7 should i use the mat????????

I use a ceramic heat emitter due to the fact that the air temp in my house is always pretty cold. So the air temp in the tank is in the 75's and the floor of the tank is 91 to 94 F. I use both bulb and heat mat.

ohhh ok so i could use both then, and instead of having the bulb turned on all daylong i could turn it off like at 6-6:30 pm to simulate the day temperature switch???? i just want the best for him since it was in a very bad place before me

Yes, keep the matt on always and turn the heat emitter on during the day.

ohhh ok if the bottom gets too hot ill just turn the lights off as needed obviously right or will the gecko just move to the colder side??? now my other question is how do i get it to eat meal worms since they use to feed him just 2 crickets every other day for ever

he should start eating once he gets use to his new home, just keep placing fresh mealies in front of him and eventually he will nom nom them :)

your making the right choice by not using sand as your substrate abrahamavelar. your new leo should do great in that home :)

hopefully nothing happens to your leo marc, but as a bit of a heads up, who you put your trust in is entirely up to you but for most of us we took the advice of people that have had leos for a long time over a petstore that wants to make money off of you by selling you crap like sand. just my 2 cents worth take it for what it is.

oh yeah i didnt want to risk it and better safe than sorry, i was thinking on repti carpet but i was told that leos might get their toes tuck on them n i was wondering if i should just get some or make some from fabric since my mom has a sewing machine and she likes sewing i thought it should be fine since its kind of the same material but i rather ask first until then paper towels will work

fabrics are fine, only downside is keeping it clean. paper is easy to clean :)

I use a nice ceramic tile and place paper towels in their "toilet" area to allow for easy cleanup.

ohhh ok will the UTH still penetrate the tiles tho???? also i just noticed that he just made a log right next to the wate bowl does that mean that he likes that spot and i should move the water from there or should i just leave it tehre and hope for the best??? also another thing should i show him where his food bowl and water bowl are located since he only had a water bowl in his pevious place????? (he never had a food bowl they used to just throw in crickets there randomly and change the water weekly
