I got this pretty girl for $30. The seller didnt know what she was. I tried to tell him but he was stubbern. So I bought her for what he was asking anyways. He thought she was a rainwater albino. His loss my gain. :main_evilgrin: I've named her Freckles =D

Guys, just remember that ...

If someone doesn't know a whole lot about the leopard geckos they hatch out, how do you expect them to provide that animal proper husbandry? :main_huh:

For her age she is at a good weight. I imagine he knows how to keep them, just not a lot about the morphs. I'm unsure who he got his from but I will find that out as soon as he replies to my email.

I don't know what would have led you to that idea, because that thought wouldn't have entered my head. I believe you're not being honest with yourself. If he thinks that's a LV Albino, then he's either got something wrong with his eyes or hasn't the foggiest what he's looking at. I would tend to believe the latter. To me, that add would have been screaming "beware" rather than "buy me". :main_yes:

It's very possible to know about how to care for Leopard Geckos without having a clue regarding morphs. There is a vet in my area that doesn't know the first thing about what a Super Snow is, but I'm sure she knows how to care for a Leo. (Not saying that it takes a vet to care for a Leo, we all know it doesn't.) She couldn't identify a morph without looking into it first, she could tell you what makes them tick though. They have been in the pet trade for over 30 years, and comparatively, they are easy to care for. The others in that ad do look worse off.

"tsed to be females" Doesn't that one on the far left look...distinctly..male? Also, the one you got looks to be the best of the lot. Healthiest, i mean.

Ken, you may feel the need to argue, but I do not. To buy a $30 Enigma because it's the "best of the lot" is a bad idea. There could be several things wrong with that gecko, even though you can't see any evidence now. The MBD deformities on the other geckos in that picture really should be a HUGE red flag, period!

To be honest I didn't even notice the others MBD deformities. Possibly cause I have an untrained eye to that sort of thing cause Ive never had a leo with it so I didn't know what to look for. And I hardly know this guy but from talking to him he seems nice and eager to learn to some degree. He didn't know that some enigmas are born with black eyes that later on change. So he was unsure he had an enigma in the one I bought. Since he had some other females in the container at the time with the mother and father to this that was rainwaters he assumed that it was possible that one of those mothers were the mother instead. Since he was unsure if it was an enigma based on these facts he sold it as a rainwater (this is what he told me and what I gathered from talking to him.) cause he didn't want to unknowingly sell something that might possibly not be what he claimed it was when he himself was unsure. I rather someone face up to being unsure and all and not try to squeeze one in on someone. I'm sure a lot of breeders in the past have sold things as something it was not. Its clear however he doesn't know what some morphs look like as babies. Perhaps this is his first try at hatching any leos out. I assure you though these are all mostly just educated guesses on my behalf. I could be completely wrong. But the girl seems to be doing great. She ate 2 crickets for me and is drinking since I got her. She hadn't been doing an circles (Ive been watching for some time now to see if she has shown any of the enigma syndrome) and I know they can develop that over time but for the time being she is doing fine.

On a lighter note. Cause I feel everyone deserves a chance to make a mistake as long as they are willing to admit they did and learn from it. I have volunteered to teach the guy a few things to help him as a breeder and care taking. He seems willing and that earns a few points in my book.

I'm missing the place where I argued. In fact I agree with you with the exception of you saying that you need to be familiar with morphs to care for a Leo. My point was to say that being able to identify morphs has no bearing on being familiar with the proper care of Leos. I simply stated some facts. I made no reference to the Leos in that ad in particular until the very end after I went back and looked at the ad, and my assessment of the animals reflects that.
