Hi,

a new morph developed by myself the Blue Diamond. It's a tangerine patternless, black eye and blue striped leopardgecko. Hope you like it....

When you make the bold claim to have produced a new morph, it is wise to go into more detail about the background of said animal, and how it was produced. Otherwise, there are sure to be some very confused (and quite possibly irritated) people responding to your claim with skepticism.

There are a lot of morphs out there these days, all of which need to be proven out before being assigned a whole new name.

That being said, I am very curious as to how that little guy came about.

It's a long way to produce them. The basics were nice Tangerine (own bloodline) and a Hypo.

Were are thinking it's a simple recessive trait, but 2009 will show more. If you have any questions please post them, thanks a lot.

If you read correct you read that this were the basics. In another bloodline I hatched a little guy with completely black eyes. I breed it to the F1-generation of Tangerine x hypo cross and I got some nice super hypos het black eye (at this time I didn't know what the genetics of the eyes were). I breed them back to the mystic guy with completely black eyes. After that I breed the (super) hypo tangerines with black eyes to a nice reverse striped. Now I got some reverse striped (super) hypo tangerines het black eye. I breed them to each other and the result were this little one I show you, the blue stripe was a new mutation.

Not to crash the tea party here, but… I hardly see any blue, and the little pinhead size that there is a dirty brown. I seriously doubt this is a new mutation. Sorry.

My question is have you test bred it to a eclipse or raptor to see if the eye trait is unique or not?

If it is indeed a "tremper eclipse" SHTCT or tangerine dorsal stripe than I don't see it as a new morph, but see no reason why you can't use it as a inhouse discription of your line of eclipse tangerines.

The other black eyed before her were testbreeded to a Raptor, there came no Albino or Eclipse out.

I crossed an Emerine Albino and a Tangerine Tornado and initially the eyes of the offspring looked black, but later as they aged a little you could tell better that the eyes were not solid. That is just my experience, I can't speak for your offspring, but it may be common amongst Tang. crosses. I would wait for them to develop more myself. I don't think one or two clutches constitutes being labeled a new morph, but that's just my opinion. Good luck with your project at any rate. I, for one, am a bit callused when it comes to "new morph" claimes. I think it takes a minimum of three or fous seasons before you can prove out a new mutation, what would you all say to that?

Okay guys,

I proved the morph out for about 4-5 years. It is in my oppinion a new morph. Look at the history of the morph.

I guess if you’re talking about the eye trait and not the blue strip, then I have you. I still don’t see much blue though, sorry.
