EWW! smush it! I don't mind spiders that are NON-poisoness, but a black widdow is just so....creepy!

:main_laugh: "NON-poisoness"? All spiders are venomous, but very few are considered dangerous to people. They do a lot more good than most folks realize. And, they deserve no more to be eradicated than any other animal species. :main_no:

i vote get rid of the egg sack--kill the babies that is.
if you wish to keep the mother PLEASE keep in mind that if she was to get out she could harm someone. i had brown recluse living in my house at one point, a whole frikkin nest. we had to call exterminators. my neighbor got bit by one and was in the hospital. they had to cut out part of her jaw (where she was bit)
just be careful!!

ive been bit by both widows as well as all other red backs here, and reclus, funnel web spider. they are not deadly or horrible as far as damage, but can be horribly painful. widows cant even really bite in most spots on the skin.

Oh she's so beautiful! There are many black widows in my sister's yard...my brother-in-law is fascinated by them and will occasionally drop small crickets into their webs. I actually had one living beneath my futon for a while....she was a fantastic roommate. :p

I agree with Maurice, however i only kill them if they come into my house because my sons to young to be able to handle a bite from anything whose neurotoxic venom is so strong.

I always remove them safely when I find them in my house. A bite from a BW is painful but not life threatening for most people. I got bit building a blockwall by a BW, felt like I had really bad muscle cramps. Lasted for about 2 hours.

The only spider I kill on site is the Brown Recluse, just too much risk involved to catch and relocate them. They are fast, jumpy and unpredictable with venom that has serious consequences.

Cool spider find; personally most spiders freak me out when they're not under glass/away from me. Live and let live, spiders are fascinating.
Hope you can find someone to care for all those babies. You might find an educational institute or something to take a few.
