I am a chameleon person, but geckos have always fascinated me.

I was offered a trade for a Tremper Giant Albino Male. I was told he is about 115 grams and will be one year old this July. My main questions are what would be a fair value on this gecko? and does this picture match with the description?

Thanks!

Lisa

To me the tail looks a little skinny but that could be from breeding. Value is what the gecko is worth to you. I'm guessing your trading him chameleons? If you are may I ask what you are putting up in trade?

Rob - He wants one of my juvenile BB ambilobe males. I understand the whole "value" perception you give...but, if someone were to put a price tag on this animal what would a fair one be...in your opinion? Males can lose weight or become skinny from breeding? Hope that is not a dumb question, I am new to geckos.

We paid $100 (plus shipping) for our Giant Jungle Tremper albino, but that was a couple years ago and prices have decreased since then. We actually sold him last year for $50 plus shipping, but he was also on sale. I would say if you want to put monetary value on him, $65-75 is a pretty good price.

And yes, looks just like a Giant Tremper albino should :) he also looks like he is Jungle.

I wouldn't trade any panther chameleon for that gecko. This is just me but your better off selling your baby and looking around for a gecko. There are plenty of breeders on here that have great looking geckos.

Yes geckos lose weight during breeding.

One thing to consider is that as I understand it, giants have a long and lanky look when they're young and this one is not yet a year old, so it wouldn't surprise me if he looks a bit on the thin side. I would expect he will fill out as he matures.
