hello,
I am new to breeding leopard geckos, I have owned leo's in the past but was unsucessful because we didnt own a computer. and I couldn't look up any information about incubation

I have not produced any eggs yet but I believe my Blizzard is gravid. I need help finding an inubator or hovabator. can you help me with ways to make/ buy one in an inexpensive way?

thank you

you can pick up a hovabator online for pretty cheap. Try looking and reptile supply places like LLLreptile.com. Since it is your first time incubating I personally suggest getting a hovabator...it will help reduce possibilities for egg loss due to inc issues.

Welcome to GF.

For your particular situation right now:
--you can get a hobovator for about $50 plus shipping from lllreptile.com. You can get something similar from a feed store (you want a chicken egg incubator that does not turn the eggs) if you can find one locally
--for best results, you really do need a proportional thermostat. If you don't know what that is, do a forum search on here (go the to "search" button at the top and type "proportional thermostat" into the box). A good one will cost about $100. I got mine from bigappleherp.com
--if you want to make your own, you can google "home made incubator" or check out the article in Gecko Time written by a forum member: http://www.geckotime.com/do-it-yourself-incubator-from-a-compact-refrigerator/
--read through the "breeding" forum here. Copy and paste anything that you think is helpful into a word processing document and you'll have your own book of helpful hints.

Now, some other things to consider, which I will point out respectfully before others point it out less respectfully:

--first, if you got the gecko and found out unexpectedly that she is gravid, you can ignore most of what I put below except to get an idea of what you need for this project. If you "arranged" for her to become gravid and are now wondering about an incubator, think about this:

The best time to work out the kinks of breeding is before the gecko gets gravid. The incubator should be ready and concrete plans for feeding, housing and providing vet care if necessary for the babies and adults should at least be in the works if not set up.
If you are dependent on parents for paying for some or all of the gecko related expenses, they need to know that vet visits can be needed and they need to be on board with that. There have been a number of posts on the forums from teenagers dependent financially on their parents whose parents decide they don't feel like paying for the vet.
If you are new to taking care of reptiles, breeding was not a good idea.
If it turns out that the gecko isn't gravid, don't plan to start breeding until you've covered all the bases I mentioned above.

Breeding can be a really fun, exciting experience but it does involve some trouble, expense and sometimes unexpected unfortunate events as well.

Good luck,

Aliza

I have everything ready, but I need a hovabator.

I have owned a collection (8) of leo's in the past but was never sucessful at egg incubation. but then I was young, didnt have the right inubator/hovabator, and didnt have a computer to help me research all for the criteria that I know now.

I will look up local feed stores in my area. and I already have the container for the incubator set up. i just need the hovabator.

any other suggestions or help please?
