Please read below before voting...

When an animal is said to be Crepuscular, it is active during the twilight hours at dawn and dusk, animals take advantage of the twilight to feed, seek water and other engagements b/c predators are not as active.

Nocturnal animals ONLY come out at night. They have specially developed sense of vision to see in the dark and normally have a keen sense of hearing also.

Are you asking if Leopard Geckos are? Leopard geckos are a nocturnal species but have crepuscular feeding habits. Simply due to their natural habitat, daytime activity is unbearable to most all reptilian species. Also there are VERY few animals which are strictly nocturnal only. Just about any Nocturnal species is active at dusk and dawn. Example, Racoons are a nocturnal species...have you NEVER seen one out during the day or scavenging for food at dusk and dawn.

lol guess you know who voted yes huh.

correct I am asking about Leopard Geckos in the Leopard Gecko forum, haha.

I like your example of Racoons, makes sense. I still don't think they are fully nocturnal animals due to the fact that they will explore and become active mid day. Most nocturnal snakes only come out at night.

Look it up. Racoons are classified as a nocturnal species. Can you name one species of snake which is never found until post dusk? Just the simple fact that an animal would be missing on the opportunity of easy hunting as light dims would be enough to encourage almost any "nocturnal" species to be active during dusk. Also I thought this was about leopard geckos in the leopard gecko forum ;).

I vote "yes" for "nocturnal species but have crepuscular feeding habits" My leos are definitely nocturnal. Mine are more active very late at night.

6 p.m.: The 15W florescent light automatically turns off. The red heat lamp is on 24 hours/day so I can still see them. My 2 non-albino leos poke their heads out and walk around for a little bit. Today they were licking the calcium dish.

7 p.m. - 8 p.m.: is when I normally feed them crickets. I tap on the tank to call them out and turn the light back on. The non-albino ones come out to eat. As soon as they're full, they head back to their hides and I turn off the light. The tremper albino giant barely leaves her hide and I just feed her there so she doesn't have to walk back...

10 p.m. - midnight: At least one out of the 3 would already poop in the litter box. I often see at least one climbing the styrofoam background or hanging out on one of the hammocks around this time.

Mightnight - 2 a.m.: Two out of three have already pooped. This is the only time I see my albino leo explores and climbs around the tank. Last night, she was hanging out on one of the hammocks.

2 a.m. - 9 a.m.: I have no idea what they do.... I'm sleeping! The light turns on automatically at 6 a.m.

9 a.m. - 6 p.m.: I have never seen more than heads sticking out... It's a good thing I have other pets, too!

when you think about it nocturnal animals are like the opposite of humans. We dont wake up first lite (somtimes its before lite, somtimes after) and go to bed the second it hits night. Same with them, they might wake up early before its dark, (our 5 a.m. equivelent) and they might stay up late watching a moving with their girlfriend, when it starts getting light outside which is our 12 P.M. equivelent. See what im sayin?

Well, there are some populations of coons known to actually wait at tidal pools on beaches to receed and then hit up the stranded seafood for a meal, regardless of time...but thats just usless nit picking XD.

As far as rango is concerned, 4am-6pm is nap time.

With all the geckos I have, it's quiet during the day and quite busy and noisy beginning at dusk and most of the night! When I get up in the morning, they are all fast asleep.
