alright so i live at college in the new dorms where the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbor's phone beep or them cough. well the people who live below have been playing music SOOO LOUD this semester and i cant take it anymore!! our floors shake, and you can hear the words in the songs sometimes. and the worst part is not only are the ceilings incredibly high, but they play all hours of the day and night!! they have started around 9am before and i have heard them around 2 am also. this is ridiculous.

i spoke with their CA and she said she would tell them to stop this time but they didnt listen. she was no help so i will have to go talk to them. i didnt want to be "that" person but i cant take it anymore. the only thing is..their guys and i really dont think they are going to listen the likes of me..a four foot nothing little girl...

has anyone else had this problem at school? i dont think im being unreasonable about asking them to stop b/c we have courtesy hours all the time and quiet hours start at 11 which they dont abide by anyways...ugh...stupid neighbors....:main_angry:

that was my rant..im done now...

When I lived in student housing I had the same problem. It was torture, especially when you can't get any sleep or even hear yourself think from all the noise!

You aren't being unreasonable at all, it can be very hard to deal with.

Good luck

Perhaps you can talk to the dean? I'm not sure if they handle matters like that. Maybe he/she could put you in the direction of someone who can?

Hey there, I live in the dorms too and have the same problem sometimes. You need to go tell them to stop when they are loud, especially if it is quiet hours. Be firm and they should listen.

The best thing you can do is talk to them directly. Go and tell them to be quiet. People are usually more than obliging about turning down music, especially if you live adjacent to them.

I assume CA is the person in charge of enforcing rules on their floor? Tell the CA again IF they don't turn down the volume after YOU ask them. If they still don't keep it down after you talk to them and the CA doesn't help, go to your residence director and ask them about it.

And it is perfectly reasonable to tell them to keep the volume down.

lol come trade with me, my down stairs neighbors love to blast music so loud that my bed shakes... at 3 AM!

talking to people doesn't always work... chances are they don't care. i suggest investing in ear plugs.

I agree with Yvette, if they don't stop go higher up the chain of command until someone listens. The school's job is to provide a place that's conducive to learning not jamming. As you get older it gets easier to be "that" person. I'm 5'0" and have NO problem putting people in their place! LOL
