Regular leopard gecko poop has a larger dark section with a small pure white part at the end. One of the geckos in my enclosure is pooping pure white. Not the chalky white that the urates have, but a sort of translucent light tannish white. There is no dark spot, it's all pure tannish white.

Here are possible factors:
- Both geckos are / have been pregnant this season
- Only one is pooping white
- One of them laid their first clutch already, the other hasn't, and it's been 3-4 weeks.
- The one who hasn't laid has recently been eating a lot more vigorously than the other, when usually it's the other way around.
- They have recently had waxworms bought from the pet store, they're usually fed mealworms.
- The one who hasn't laid has shed in the past few days.
- Both are 49-50 grams, a bit under average but still acceptable.
---

I'm pretty sure that the one who is pooping translucently is the one who hasn't laid yet, so I'm (only speculating) thinking that it's either the remnants of her egg that she's absorbed, the waxworms, or the shed. I'm aware that shedding causes a gecko to poop in a whitish color, but not to this extent. There have already been a few of these translucent poops across the course of a few days.

I'm separating the geckos for now, please respond ASAP if you have any idea of what's happening.

EDIT :
One of the alleged poops, with a conveniently placed regular poop for comparison.

rather not say
Wait, is she on sand? She could be eating the sand and that is probably why her poop is white (it is built up sand). I recommend taking her off sand as soon as possible! Paper towels or tile is safe.

Edit: To add, if she continues pooping like this after you have taken her off sand, take her to the vet. I would personally take her to the vet after you have taken the sand out.

It could be the sand, but she's been on it for a while already... I'll take her off it anyway.

Yea.. That DEFINATELY looks like sand. Leopard Geckos are from packed deserts, not sandy deserts. So it's not natural to keep them on sand. can cause impaction, mouthrot, skin irritation.. All kinds of stuff. paper towels all the way for me

the geckos pop is normal, the two sany looking ones are most likley just due to sand sticking to the wet poop, not because its eating it.
iv kept/ keep geckos on sand all my life and never had a problem.
however on the other hand if you do see it eating mouths full of sand then ypu should remove it.

Quick question: My leopard Gecko has been pooping regularly everynight but tonight it was super smelly and wet.

I know I read it somewhere in here but can't fid the thread. What does this mean?

Too much food? Not enough? Or was it just super fresh and didn't have time to harden?
