Nutritional Values

Recently, someone (not here on GF) was trying to tell me that superworms are highly fatty, and addictive. I have been under the impression that they are fine to be fed as a staple diet. Now, I looked at some of the nutritional value charts online, and saw that Mealies and Supers are almost the same in nutritional makeup. The thing is, as most know, those online charts can vary, and the results depend on the health, diet, etc. of the insect prior to the evaluation. So, are supers "too fatty" to be fed as a staple, or am I mistaken? I thought I recalled that maybe Gregg used Supers?? I don't want to put words in your mouth though... Any help on this would be appreciated.

Mealworms and Superworms are both extremely high in fat. Probably not the best staple diet for our geckos. But, it's convenient (I feed mealies and supers also) ... and people these days seem to think that an obese gecko is a good thing.

Supers are much higher in fat than meal worms... Supers are almost as fatty as wax worms... Staple diets are convenient as Kelli said, but it is not the best we can do for our pets... Varied diets are suggested...

I doubt you'll find roaches at the local shops they're mostly found online the same with silkworms, hornworms unless you have a unique shop around you.

I think they say that Crickets are better than Mealworms nutritionally but they are just a pain in the behind to deal with and the smell isn't pleasant.
