OK hes really starting to scare me :( *UPDATE ON PG 2*

Wyatt is going on week 2 1/2 with barely eating! Hes only maybe 6-7 months old and yesterday he ate 3 cricketts...thats it!
he doesnt like to eat out of his bowl...neither does Sophie so tonight for him I dumped his mealies out right in front of him. When they moved he got a little excited and looked interested but that interest was short lived as he quickly looked away and just layed next to them.

I did the same thing for Sophie and she ate 10 mealies within 5 minutes. Im really starting too worry about him...he looks to me to be getting skinnier. I ordered a digital scale off Ebay on Sunday and was hoping it would be here by now but its not :(
Hes still active and quite Curious... So I dunno.

I seriously do not know what to do. I took pics tonight please tell me if he looks skinny to you or not....

Well geckos going in hunger strikes can be something to worry about and sometimes not I had one that didn't eat for over a month, if you clearly tell he losing weight without even weighing him I would start to think about finding a reptile vet to get him checked out.

Fleck is doing that too! Ever since I got her like 2/3 weeks ago she's only eaten like MAYBE 10 mealies. She hasn't lost weight though

I personally would give him a bare tank (paper towel or one sheet of newspaper on the bottom) with a hide box and gatorade lid water bowl, put in three superworms and leave him alone. With proper temps he should eat.

Are your two geckos housed together or separately? What temperatures do you have the cage at? How are you providing heat? And what is the substrate?

I would get him to a Rep Vet ASAP if you're visibly noticing weight loss. It could be parasites. Most reptiles carry a small amount of them by enlarge but he could have protozoan, flagellates, or pinworms drawing at his body and making him not want to eat.

That said they do go on hunger strikes somewhat but after a few weeks I would worry. Especially with weight loss.

Hes been on Repti carpet a little over 2 weeks now and is pooping normally. I use a digital thermometer with Probe on both the tanks, UTH and heat lamp. my Leos have their own 20L tanks. He started the strike a few days before I seperated them on March 21st 2007.
His temps are 88-90 during the day with a low of 76 at night. In the pictures his temp is only 81 but thats after turning the rheostat up for the morning.

Also I attached pictures from over the past month for you to better determine if he looks to be losing weight because since I'm so worried my eyes could be playing tricks on me. Theyre posted from Oldest to Newest....

We have a few fussy eaters. They get tired of eating mealworms and want crickets then get tired of crickets and want superwoms. Maybe they're just too spoiled. I don't know. We just cooled down one of our boys because he was on hunger strike. Now he seems to be eating normally again. It's spring time now, even though Wyatt's a little small maybe he has girls on the brain rather than food. Good luck!

Well since this all started around Sophie I figured it was because of her. I am a little happy that he at least shows interest in the food but then it concerns me to See him show interest them not really care 2 seconds later..lol

And yes they are very spoiled :D

Joyce I have a digital here, if you wanted to travel up just to weigh him. But if you didnt know his weight before...it may be pointless with nothing to compare it to.
Is he ready to shed?
Is he getting darker? Or is that lighting?

my adult female when I first got her went 2 months without eating, she was ovulating and I had just moved her so the two mixed could have caused mine to stop eating. Since yours is a male he shouldn't go quite as long without food as a female would if she was ovulating. So I would take a fecal to a vet asap, just to be safe. But it may be nothing at all. His appetite may be decreasing from being close to adult size and he might be a little more interested in female leos then leo food.

76 degrees is way too low, even at night. That is the time when most leos eat, and that is not warm enough to help with digestion. I would bump the temps up to 90-92 at all times and see if that helps. Because he is interested in food, it sounds to me that parasites aren't the problem.

ok, I will just maintain temps and see if that helps....as it stands at the moment he is laying on the hot side basking and the temp is 90.6 hs been basking all day.

I have the same problem with my female... She isn't eating since the last days of february... Well, she has eaten twice or three times but very few mealworms at a time. And acts the same, she shows interest in food but in the last second she looks away and completely ignores the prey.

You can tell she is ovulating. She also sleeps exposed and not in her hides, and her temper has gotten considerably worse since then. I guess she also has 'boys in her head', hehe.

Since she hasn't scarcely lost any weight and is active, I haven't called the vet, but I'm considering cooling her down as I've seen sometimes recommended in this forum. I need some input about this... Which temperature do you recommend me to have her at while the cooling lasts? How long should I have her cooled?

I have 3 females total, all of them are ovulating at the moment. One is eating very little about once a week, but the other 2 has gone off food for months. It is driving me nuts, but all I could do is give them a bit of slurry once every 2 weeks, so they do have a little food in their stomach and won't start using up the tail fat. Hopefully, they will resume eating soon. I hate going through this once every year!

Go Wyatt its your weigh Day!!!!

OK so last night he ate 3 large crickets, I went to the store and bought a digital scale since mine STILL hasnt arrived. I weighed him last night and he weighed 23 grams. Well I was gonna wait a week to weigh again, but Im sooo impatient when it comes to these things so I weighed him again today.
Today he was up 1 at 24 grams! and tonight he ate 7 Mealies!!!

Sophie is still doing awesome. She weighed 15 grams last night and today is up by 2 at 17 grams!

Sooooo my worriedness has dissipated but I will continue to monitor and watch. What a naughty boy to make me worry! I'm so glad hes eating now though. :D :D :D
