Thanks. I was eyeing up a baby tokay, but my bf didn't like the temperment. I was just walking around looking at stuff and came across this cutie at the Regal Reptiles table and just loved it. I asked some questions to make sure I had all the stuff at home for a setup and fortunately I did. So now, he's mine. At least right now I think it's a boy. We'll find out later I'm sure.

I hope you enjoy him/her. I have had my gold dust for about 3 years and she's very pretty to look at --when I can see her. She's also very shy. I inquired about Regal's day geckos once and there's a good chance it is wild caught, so you may want to be on the lookout for any indication that s/he has parasites.

Thanks everyone. So far it's hiding behind the background plate but does come out during the day. At least according to my bf. I'm misting the enclosure twice a day and am feeding baby crickets every other day. I am feeding fruit baby food mixed with some honey and vitamins and calcium too(I found a recipe somewhere). He's coloring up a again, so he must be starting to relax. Hopefully he will settle down soon and come out more. It's the only reason why I won't secure the back plate yet.

Thanks everyone. I just re-did his tank and covered the two sides with decorative background of plants(the kinds for aquariums) to see if that would help him come out more. It has and now he is running around during the day and not hiding as much. I have yet to see him eat but I keep finding poop so that's a good thing. Trying to catch him to break down the tank was an adventure. I definitely need a bigger fishing net for next time. I forgot how fast they can be. I have a feeling someday I will have a loose gecko in my house on tank cleaning day.

My gold dust got out a few months ago --I don't know how she managed it. The good thing about day geckos is when they get out you look up and find them. She was on the wall near the other planted tanks. I actually don't clean the tank. It's a planted tank and has done well as a self contained environment for the past 3 years.

I haven't tried planted yet. I suck with live plants( brown thumb with fungus deal). Planning on doing that next month or so when I break down the tank again.
