I have a 7 month old leopard gecko, which is male, and i've just bought a new leopard gecko, which i was told was female and ive also looked myself and she is looking female, they said shes 3 months old but shes not that much smaller than my 7 month old. I know some people don't like to keep pairs together unless breeding, some people do though, and i know they have to be around the same size to have a chance of getting on. As shes only a little smaller, would this be ok to try?

heres a pic of them. The one in my hand is the male and the one in the cricket box is the female

First reason why not to is that they are not full grown, nor do they look 50 grams (proper breeding weight). A male and female, regardless of age, WILL try to breed. Some females ovulate early, and a young pregnancy can be very problematic, even cause death in a gecko not large or mature enough.

Second reason is that even though you probably bought the new gecko from someone trustworthy, you NEED to quarantine at first.

If you put them together, there's a good chance the male will breed with the female before she is physically in best condition for that (imagine 13 year old kids "breeding"). This will not be good for her physically in the long run. I recommend you wait until she is at least 9 months old (better, a year or more) and at least 50 grams and also until you have an incubator, the desire to breed and a place to keep the babies.

my advice would be to keep them seperate until she reaches 50 g. Then I see no problem.

Nice gecko's :)
