I emailed Tremper some photos of my weird gecko and asked him if he had ever seen anything like it and what he thought of it and check out his reply!

Hi
I just got in from a trip and now leaving this a.m. for another 6 days.
This looks like your Bell parents were also het for snow. This is a lighter colored Bell Snow in my opinion.
The white tongue is nothing unusual.
Have fun,
R

Subject: WWW - strange looking leopard gecko

Ron,

This gecko hatched from Tangerine Het Bell parents. It has no color on it at all and it has a white tongue. I am wondering if this could be a true axanthic/anerythristic leopard gecko. Have you seen anything like this before? Should be fun trying to prove it out.

I didn't know you could have a "het" for a linebred or co-dom gene. I guess I should have been labeling my normals as het for snow this year :main_rolleyes: Shouldn't the snow also be het for tang because of its parents? A lighter colored snow Bell...what an idiot.

I can only ever remember seeing pink tongues.

I guess he missed the part where snow is not recessive. :dizzy:

My experience is certainly less than many others, but I have not seen a white tongue before. I doubt it would have mattered if you sent him a picture of a blue and purple striped gecko - he still would've said is was nothing unusual.

OK so I wrote him back-

Ron-

Het for Snow? I've never heard of there being any Het Snows. The Snows I know of are either line bred or co dominant. Do you know of some that are recessive?

Thanks,
Kelli

His reply- :main_rolleyes:

Huh?

1) Urbans are recessives........

That aside......
2) snow x normal = F1 normals het for snow.
Breed the F1s together and you get some snows.
(did it here many times)

OK, off to the airport........
R

my reply to that

Weird, Craig states on his website that his Snows are dominant...

So what are you telling me is that I could breed two normal looking Mack Snow siblings to each other and produce a Mack Snow? I'm confused.

I think it's time for him to retire.

I have seen a white tongue in a hatchling before but it gained color with age and for the life of me I can't remember if it was a snow or a ss that I had hatched. Didn't think anything of it at the time and still don't.

But that doesn't mean that what Kelli has is in any way a snow!!!!

My vote is Axanthic!!!! :D

It's sad that Spongebob Squarepants said something intelligent..but yet, Ron can't do the same. Maybe he should rent a pineapple under the sea..without an oxygen tank.
