What will they be?


The very first one has solid red or black eyes I cannot really tell in the pet store. His toes look a bit screwy in the picture, but i think it was just the way I had him on my hand.

#2 is an Enigma

The first one defiantly has bad MBD. You can see it in his legs and Jaw.

He looks like a patternless stripe or eclipse to me.

Second one is a Bell enigma.

That bump was only on one side of the jaw... are the effect of this reversible?

its still the size of a small hatchling, can he get better over time or should i stray away from him

I would stay away, as hard as it is to do. The pet store should not be financially rewarded for neglecting their animals. If they are willing to give it to you, and you feel that you are able and willing to try nursing it back to health then go for it, but don't pay them a dime.

these were all brought into them about a week ago, so i dont think it was their fault. but i guess they should know the signs better...

what should i tell them as far as it goes for him? how would i explain MBD to them and get them to understand me

If they don't know what MBD is, they have no business dealing in reptiles.

Yes, that is a perfect example of MBD in the back legs.

Ill go back in tomorrow, tell them about how I feel about that gecko, and that I decided against buying, because it could very possibly die very soon because of MBD. If she doesn't believe me ill tell her to keep it around the store as long as possible and see if it dies. I know that she personally will not give it the care that it needs. They already gave me an Enigma earlier this week, because it kept doing circles in the terrarium and it wasn't eating. I brought it home, it still does circles, its slowed down ALOT since he has food in his belly, and he has actually been in the hide sleeping, so I think I fixed him up a bit.

All of these geckos were brought to them from a local man. He was moving, he couldn't house them any more. It sounds as if they only bought 2 or 3 of them from him, and because he couldn't care for the rest, they were all just given to them.

I hope they make the right choice, I know I couldn't sell an animal to someone know that it could very well die in the next couple of weeks if it wasn't given the correct treatment.

The pet store itself seems to be a great pet store. They will not buy puppies from people, rather they get them from the humane society, and try to help animals that need a chance homes. They also acquired 2 prairie dogs earlier in the week, they are going to be residents to the store.

It's definitely unfortunate that they were given some animals with severe health problems. MBD is metabolic bone disease, and can be reversed in part, in time. If you're just looking for a pet, and can afford to give it the extra care it needs; I would do it. If not, then it's best that you don't embark on the journey with the little one, it will be heart breaking no matter which way you look at it.

i wouldn't buy either of them. The first one, probably a RAPTOR, or a very light Eclipse, might even be better off being put down.

yea, the first one is deff has MBD but to me it looks like the second one has signs of it too.plusif it showing the enigma symptoms... and theyre both thin... idk.. i would just not buy either. jmo. they are a good price but their medical care whould soon change that.

Told them to keep the first one because of the MBD and she didn't believe me that it was showing signs, so she kept it. I will post more pictures of #2 tonight.
