lets here other hobbies (besides geckos) that other folks here have.
maybe something interesting will pop up. :p

as for me. drag racing/street racing is a big deal up here.
i work at a performance shop and build project race cars daily, so maybe its just me.
i own a 2001 mustang gt. runs high 11's low 12's in the quatermile
and i also run our sponsor ship cars which include a 90 mustang gt and a 2005 mustang gt. that generally run 9's and 8's
its a fun sport when you can supplie the money.

im looking for a 86 mustang gt for my next car. :main_thumbsup:
give me a call if you have one sitting around. hehe.

Do you ever deal with imports? Or are you a big "american muscle" kinda person? I also love drag racing and street racing, and all that good stuff! Im deffinatly a car person! Im mostly into the imporst right now, like nissans and subarus, and of course hondas! My boyfriend just bought a new motor and tranny for his 94 prelude, and will be putting it in this weekend, his stock motor is an f22 non vtech single cam I blieve. And he is upgrading to a H22 v-tech dual cam. Im so Excited! There last import wars in Epping, NH is in october so hopefully he can see what times he can get out of it. I cant wait! But I am also into my older cars like my belairs and my chevelles and all that good stuff! :D

our general shop policy for the dyno is no imports.
and i really tend to stick to the domestic cars.
so i really cant give any big advice for the imports.

i can tell you its alot easier and cheaper to make a 8 cylinder car go fast rather than a 4 cylinder car from japan. just general.

but i can tell you that ive one ford nationals twice in a row. runing the sponsor car at 8.60 give or take around 150mph. not bad for a 645hp turbo mustang.

good luck with the trials and tribulations of drag racing :main_thumbsup:

This is true to a degree. I tend to see the domestic cars ie. mustanges etc. break alot easier then the 4 or 6 cylinder imports, I guess you get what you pay for... Quality parts are expensive but very reliable. My boyfriend is also in the process of buliding his "race car" the honda is the daily driver. His race car is the body of a 85 nissan 300zx, with the power of a rb25det( a motor out of a nissan skyline) Which is way kick ass! But It is expensive, but the car is going to do some major ass kicking when its finished, lol.

lol alicia let me know how it turns out.
its really hard trying to build a streetable drag car.
im 15 and ive gone through three sets of heads and a short block trying to build the perfect engine at 13to1 compression.
all the machine work that needs to be done seems like alot (of money)

a 393 small block, a d37hellion turb, and a old 8.8 end does alot of good.

but its something hard to get right. rather than pulling another engine of another car. dealing with different compression ratios and drivetrain problems. it would probably be best to build a new motor for your selected car from the ground up. it saves alot of time and money in the long run.

theres alot of people that like imports. and the rights to compete are strict. good luck good luck.

im yet to find a ricer that will stick with me :-D, always looking for one that will

P.S: please PLEASE have your boyfriend check the compression ratios for each valve and cylinder. Watching compact cars really give me a vision for these types of things. the difference in drivetrain shafts and shifters will put him in debt up to his knees just because the blew out a rear end and transmission. not to mention a thrown cam shaft.

I'm a little into drag racing myself! Not professionally of course. I'm not much of a FORD guy, more like CHEVY GM guy. I have a 95 Buick Roadmaster with a modded LT1 engine (that's a corvette engine for those of you who aren't aware). It goes really fast for a grandfather lookin car:p . I just love it when these HONDA people are revving their little engines next to me at a stoplight only to see my tail lights and tire smoke between us!:main_laugh:

I don't know if you can call this a hobby but I also LOVE playing Texas Holdem. We have poker nights on a monthly basis.

Well, I'm an aspiring writer when I'm not working, going to college, and taking care of my animals. I just started a blog novel just so I have some place to write (one chapter is up and 2 is out next weekend). Most of my work isn't up on that site though, so I imagine I will probably put stuff up there when I fail to get some things published (the market for scifi and fantasy is brutal...)

:)
