Paper towel in tubs

I know that the majority of people who use racks, use paper towel in their tubs. I'm just wondering how often do you change the paper towels? My geckos seem to poop once a night and I have been replacing them every night. Should I be doing it twice a week or what do y'all do? Thankyou

Mine like to use one part of the tub as their potty area so I usually put an extra piece of paper towel there and I remove that piece every night and then I change the whole tub once a week.

I give it 2-4 poops depending on the Leo. I used to be like you but it becomes near impossible with lots of tubs. At this point I judge mostly by smell, if i open the tub and get a nose full It's time for a change, or if i see more than 2 (or 3-4 with babies) that means change time.

Two of my leos will only poop on top of the tupperware hide, makes cleaning easy...rinse and go, then change paper towels once a week with those two.

would you like to eat and sleep next to your poop?
maybe that is why one of them was sick. you have to take the poop out daily. you don't leave it there so they walk on it and probably lay there mouth on it.

You don't HAVE to take the poop out daily. They usually go in a corner, and don't sleep or eat next to their poop. Gecko care is different then human lifestyles, so when it comes to this, you can't compare them to humans. If you spot clean every couple of days and clean regularly you should be fine.

If they are in a small area like a tub (plastic containers) you should take the poop out daily because the step on it. That will increase the chance of parasites or bacteria to them and you when you pick them up.

This topic was settled a while ago.. Why are you even bringing it back up? And why are you even being rude? My geckos don't ever step in their poop and definitely don't sleep on it. Get over yourself and your smart comments

Geckos aren't like humans, I'm sure as long as they get food, vitamins, warmth, good home and water they're happy. Not like some humans, we want more. In a gecko's mind, I think it is all survival.

You can do that if you are using tubs, it's much easier if you are using heat tape so you can control the temperatures very easily with a thermostat. I feel that no substrate on a glass tank would be too slippery. I personally switched to paper towels in my tubs and the geckos do seem a little more comfy(haha whatever a comfy gecko looks like)
