I haven't been posting much about this here, but I've been having some major problems with geckos eating ever since JANUARY! This includes geckos not eating for months, geckos spitting out food I've tried to gently put in their mouths, days where out of 15 leos only 1 has eaten, geckos not being hungry after laying eggs . . .
Interestingly enough, despite all of this, very few of the geckos are below their weight of about a year ago. Finally, just this week I can say that nearly everyone is eating again. I feel very strongly, that in the absence of poor husbandry, illness and significant weight loss (which would point to poor husbandry or illness), the best thing to do if a gecko isn't eating is to keep offering food and be patient. It goes against all our instincts to have a creature not eating and to do nothing, but sometimes that's what's needed. I have an article about this ready to go for Gecko Time which will be published whenever we have a hole for it.

Yeah it can be tough. That happened to me and I kind of panicked. Back when I first starting keeping them though. Good job at being patience and congrats you got them to eat.

it's weird too sometimes just a change of environment can change a geckos eating habits and i don't mean for the worse. sometimes these guys stump us.i have a gecko that went MONTHs without eating (i was feeding mealies). she had nothing to do with them. finally i gave in and offered her crickets and she jumped on them like white on rice. i got her set up in a new environment and sure as whatever she started eating mealies. she has nearly tripled in size LOL

I've been being patient with my baby leo (he's only about 2-4 weeks old, I think) and he's been doing a lot better. At first I was worried when he wasn't eating as much as everyone's been saying he should, but he's been getting a lot more active and more interested in food as time goes by, so I'm pretty sure it was that he wasn't used to his environment yet either. He's been eating at least every 2 days or so, and I've been leaving mealies in his cage at night which I think he's been eating a couple of here and there.

I agree, it's hard to just "let it" not eat, but they get moody just like we can! lol

It is very stressful on the owner when a Leo wont eat, especially a young one. All you can do is just offer food regularly. My leo didn't eat much but now he seems to be chowing down on supers.. It's even harder if it's your first Leo. I know I panicked and my first Leo was a adult, I can't imagine if I had a small hatchling, I would of pulled my hair out lol..
