patternless het albino?

so, my male patternless was bought from a large pet store chain with a baseball park in san diego :) back in 2004.
he was a hatchling and I don't think he has ever displayed any traits that appear albino, but I was wondering if any of you could guess which albino strain he would be het for if he is indeed het for albino.
the reason I ask is because I just got a female temper sunglow and I was looking at other geckos online today and saw the individual ”PAM3” on this page:
http://www.geckosetc.com/available_pattalbino.html#PA
which looks a lot like my male named ”Otto”. (check him out in the” leopard gecko s” link below my avatar on the left side of the page).
the gecko on the geckos etc website is a RAIN WATER ALBINO.
if mine is het rainwater our any other albino besides temper, I an seriously reconsidering intruding my male to the female I just got.
opinions? thoughts?
thanks everyone.
Nick

If you aren't sure of the genetics I wouldn't breed. Having hets for different albino strains would complicate things significantly and is frowned upon by reptile enthusiasts. You would never be sure which albino strain could be present. If you put up a pic and an eye pic of your gecko you may be able to get more definitive replies.

There are no definitive het markers in any leopard gecko genetics so there is no way anyone could tell what your gecko is het for. He has been a pet for almost 9 years so I would just keep him a pet. You should look into getting another gecko that you know the genetics of for your female.

Thanks guys. I was really hoping for a reply like, "it is widely known that Petco only sold Tremper albinos and het for Tremper albinos before 2007." or something like that. I knew it was unlikely that I would get some definitive answer like that, but a guy can still hope, right? :)

My patternless male has a showcase with a photo here:
http://geckoforums.net/dto_showcase.php?do=preview&g=3316

I will try to get a photo of his eye sometime, but I don't know if that would be very helpful.

I am bummed, but may just breed him out to a female who in definitively NOT het albino at all and have a second line to breed. I was really just thinking he might enjoy a female after all these years.

I will likely try to breed my female to another Tremper lined male, possibly an oranger sunglow or something. She is very striking. She wouldn't be old enough to breed for a few months anyways, so I have time to figure things out. Thanks again guys.

Can anyone else add to or expand on this topic? More opinions, suggestions? What would you do with these individuals?

Your male doesn't need to have a female. He's been fine as a pet. Even if you breed him to a non-albino, you will still pass on unknown genetics. If you're so set on breeding, do a lot of research and buy a new male with known genetics from a breeder.

Thanks Kristi. I know he doesn't need a female, but he has a great personality and I thought it would be fun to see that trait passed on. I can see how I would enjoy breeding more if I had known genetics, but I have always been curious to see what would hatch if I did some line breeding with him to find what hets might be hidden in there.
I also understand the responsibility I have been given with the knowledge from this forum among other places on the net. I guess if I bred him, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling any hatchlings because of the unknown genetics potentially getting into the market and muddying the waters further.
I'm torn because he is such a great gecko with a cool personality and great with my kids. He has been an ambassador for leos for almost a decade and changed many anti-herp people's views who have not given reptiles a second thought before. I think most of you can imagine my let down and understand how I feel.
Thanks again.

The only problem with that is that you can never 100% guarantee that you'll be able to keep them all for as long as they live. They could still get out there. I have a lot of geckos with great personalities like that. That's why leopard geckos are so great. The majority are mellow and are comfortable with people.

We're in the same boat. I have a very pretty male albino patternless and I'm 99% sure hes tremper.
I would LOVE to produce embers with him, but I'm too chicken to test breed him at this point.

so, I am considering selling my patternless after thinking about it all day yesterday and all day today. I think when I take on my first breeding project, I may not give him a much attention as I would like. I would prefer to give him to a family who would really appreciate him, but I don't currently know anyone who would be a good candidate. Do you have any ideas on the best way to find him a new home?
I may likely keep him in the end, but I figured I would ask all of you first.

Could try the classifieds. Make sure the new owner knows he is an unknown het.

thanks. to be clear, my gecko appears to be a normal patternless (I think) and I am not sure if he is het for anything at all.
what would be a good starting price?
I am thinking of trying to sell him locally and avoid shipping, maybe on craigslist?

To be honest, an animal that age is a good candidate for adoption. The best idea IMO would be to find a good home. Craigslist is a good spot. Or if you can find someone from Facebook or here that lives near you. I couldnt put a price on this perticular case.
