Perilite VS Vermiculite MOLD

has anyone noticed one way or another whether vermiculite or perilite molds more often?

I noticed that with my vermiculite I've had numerous occasions that eggs have molded...even when I can see veins branching out...I just went to candle the 2 eggs my girl laid and they were starting to mold:( ...and the vermiculite wasn't even that moist...I've swabbed them off with a treated swab (foot powder lol) and I just put them into a perilite container instead...I'm hoping that will work a little better.

But any observations would be great

I like perlite better but honestly, you will get moldy eggs on both if the water to substrate ratio is not correct....

My opinion is that you are keeping your vermiculite too moist... Good eggs rarely mold in the proper conditions even if they are sitting right next to an infertile moldy egg...

yeah but I barely put any water in with these eggs...I just hope I caught them soon enough...they're only 4 days old

what kind of ventilation does the container holding your eggs have? and how full are you filling the container?

try putting the holes on the side. i have noticed much less humidity build up when on the sides and better ventilation
