The pictures are a bit blurry, so it does make it hard to tell, but it looks like the females are not gravid to me. Also female leo will often times not breed with males that they have been recently introduced to, keep the male in the tank with the females. Let them get used to each other, then they might breed but it does take time, sometimes up to a year before the female will breed with the male. If it is the first time, there is a good chance the eggs are not fertile, and if you did see eggs at one point and no longer see them, it means the female absorbed them back into her body. The body weight sound very healthy, but like you said you would, do change the base of their tank, sand is very dangerous to keep them on.
