Phoenix Worms

What I don't get is why the soldier fly larvae are supposedly good composters, while the phoenix worms are the same thing but they don't eat.

I think by the time they are large enough to be feeders, they stop eating and start looking to pupate...I put in a link to a blog above written by someone who seems to be as enthused about soldier flies as most folks here seem to be about their geckos (and other herps!).
