Plant suggestions?

I'm completely reworking my girls' setup this weekend and I need some suggestions.

I'm doing to do a faux desert floor, hard and "cracked" with layers of "stone" (the full effect is going to be done with plaster, paint, teeny bit of sand, and some sealant) In the cracks I want to have some plants (fake) coming up. I want some grass looking stuff, but does anyone have suggestions about where I could get the plants, what they should look like, what other plants there should be, etc?

^-- that's basically the setup I have now. Ignore the "A" and "B" that was just me giving myself directions so I knew what piece went where lol.

When I'm finished, the walls will all be faux stone and so will the floor. Any suggestions about where the plants should go are welcome, too. I'm gonna have fun playing around with this this weekend :D

Moving along in the unique centerpiece series, we are on to au natural options. I have to admit I am quite obsessed with some of these options and believe that they are also truly DIY. It is amazing you can take something as plain as leaves and turn it into a centerpiece masterpiece! I also found on Save-On-Crafts.com a lot of great, inexpensive options for branches, logs, greenery and glass.

You have many more plant options at craft stores than pet shops, and can mold bases from clay if needed. Silks can sealed with spray polyurethane for easier cleaning. I'd love to have the space to do something like this :)
