Plants in enclosure-questions

I use live plants in my frogs setups and also my pink bellied swifts. I've been interested in doing a foam background and rock project and I've thought about adding plants into the enclosure as I do with my other species. It would be easy to create pot molds in the background and flooring while constructing it. I have plenty of succulents that are very soft like hens and chicks, aloe, and a super soft hawthoria. I also have dwarf sanserveria. I've also thought about purchasing air plants for the project.

My honest concern is would the geckos be tempted to nibble on the plants? I've read alot that they will nibble on certain fruits that are offered to them. If they are going to be nibbling on live plants I'll definitely not add them.

Any opinions?

I have no experience with a gecko eating anything other than feeders, but lately I've read a lot of threads with people saying their geckos were eating the moss in the moist hide, or bark chips, etc. Personally, I don't think it is something I would "chance", but hopefully someone will chime in that already has live plants in their enclosure and all is fine!

I've had live succulents in with one of my leos. The only reason I took them out is because some roach feeders burried in and ate the roots. You should research to be sure what you're using is non-toxic - just in case - but my guy never tried eating them.

It's been so long, I honestly don't remember, and I don't have the links anymore. They were all miniature varieties, so they wouldn't overgrow the tank.

I think leos are more likely to eat stuff on the ground than to nibble on plants, so you're probably OK.

try using some jade trees. They stay small for, oh, maybe 100 years or so and are cheap at most garden stores.

I know "the herpticluture of leopard geckos" has a list of plants that are safe for your gecko. It has lots of other great gecko info in it too.
