So I went into my sons science class today to show our skink and cresties to the class. The teacher showed me their class leo gecko who she said always has a prob with shedding on its back feet. When I took it out I almost DIED.
The poor things back feet are caloused and there is stuck shed constricting them. She said she has soaked it and it wont come off. She said this is an ongoing thing with this gecko.
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO HELP THIS POOR THING :(
Im not that experienced with leos I have mostly Rhacs so please some advise.
THanks

Soak him again. and use tweezers, verryyyy carefully to get the skin of, but make sure it's really soft.

Then when you finally get the shed off, make sure the poor guy has a moist hide in his enclosure, this will aid in the shedding.

He looks good other than the shed problem, based on his tail, and the shed isn't that hard to fix. Good luck

So I went back today and soaked and tweezed took few soaks until the thick crusty scab of shed finally came off. Poor thing just let me do it never bit once. Her feet and toes were raw and bloody and have grown deformed but they seem to be ok. I told the teacher to put her in a clean kk on paper towel till her feet heel. I'm going tomorrow to set up her tank properly. Thanks so much for the advise it saved her little feet from falling off

Well done Caren.
Im sure the teacher was doing their best, but even the educators need a lesson every now and then, keep us updated on how she's doing.

Hey Caren! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond!
Nice to meet you! I've not seen it spelled Caren too often either! I was named after my aunt Carolyn.

Anyhow, I'm so glad that all is well with the little girl! And I'm also glad I could be of help to you!

Do you have leos of your own?
