well there is a way that ive used for fish it might work, get some ice cubes and smashem on a plastic bag, pretty much u want crush ice, u add water to make it slushy, then put it in a plastic container with lid in the freezer for 20 min mix some salt in it and then put your gecko there and piut it in the freezer after 30 min if its not dead from the shock u could hit him in the head wit a hammer (one good blow) by the time u r gonna hit him he should fell no pain but u gotta get everything ready b4 u get him out of the frizer

You should probably just not reccomend Euthenasia anymore -______- lol.

NOW, why dont you start by telling us how old the leo is and what EXACTLY is wrong. Providing pics may help. Theres a chance your leo can be saved given the circumstance, i certinley hope your not just giving up.

This ^ What leads you to believe euthanizing is the only option?

true im just saying thats one way ive done it with fish ive only had to doit once thankfully, and yeah it could be saved

Take her to a vet and get a shot of Fatal +. It's a sodium pentobarbitol solution specifically made for humane euthanasia.

dont get me wrong im probably gonna sound like a dumb fool but if its going to die why would u want to pay 150 bucks when u could try to doit for free

What the f... . That is by far the stupidest advice you could of given to the OP, makes me sick you can just say that so easily. I can't tell if your serious or not that's how bad it is. I agree with mara, how about taking your reptile that you cared for and loved for to a vet, and euthanizing it with some dignity and respect towards the poor animal. It makes me sick you'd rather save money and just smash your geckos head in, you okay bro?. I dont care if I get bashed for being harsh, you my freind are not okay.

Now to be fair, PROPERLY done and quickly, that would very very quickly end the animals suffering. However, what if you miss? what if you hit its neck or just the tip of its nose? Thats pain on the animal, what if you dont hit hard enough? While playing "what if" is not always fun it is important to gather the very possible factors in this case. I think a CO2 chamber would be a more humane way to euth a gecko if it was need asap(im talking emergencey cases where say the animal is in imense pain.)

When youre on your death bed you'll understand.
Oh you have cancer? Lets smash you! Your medication costs us too much.

You also have a moral obligation to take care of you animals. If you dont want to spend a few dollars to end suffering in your pet, dont sign up for the responsibility.

I was told by my veterinarian that C02 doesnt work the same way for reptiles and birds as it does for mammals. Its not a quick death.

Is it really necessary though, like really?, maybe it is pain-free if done right, but its still barbaric and should be used as a last resort if anything, not used as readily advice on a forum and expect people to take it so care-free. This should be no different than euthanizing a dog, cat, whatever. OP if this situation does end with you having to put your gecko down, please do it properly, and see a vet. I don't believe you would take that mans advice seriously anyways. Sam dont get me wrong I understand what you were trying to say in your reply, and I'm not taking it as you support that idea, just a little ticked off so im just speaking off emotion
