Poop Dilemma

Okay so I have a bonded pair of geckos (I received them as a pair and didn't want to separate them) They are sweethearts and I love them. Only problem is...they both chose their pooping spot on the reptile hammock. Why??? I dont understand! I have 4 other geckos who chose a normal corner of the tank to do their business and I even went out an got snazzy "poop tiles" for those corners but I dont understand why these two would chose the hammock as a bathroom?

Does anyone have experience with this? What will happen if I take the hammock out? Can I encourage I more conventional spot to do their business?

I feel more comfortable getting a tile clean...when I clean the hammock I just feel as if I am not getting everything and it bothers me.

Thanks guys! :)

Many of mine poop on the hammock as well. Try moving it to the opposite corner. If that doesn't work, either remove the hammock or keep cleaning the poop.

I would try put the hammock on the spot you want them to poop on; when they get used to pooping in that corner, take away the hammock for a while. Then put it back in the original position after a week or two, but make sure you clean off all the poop smell on the hammock. :)

p.s. I have geckos that prefer to poop on top of their humid hides, I'd given up changing their toilet spot, I just lay toilet papers there for easy cleaning...

For the hammocks. I wait until the poop is dry. Then I take it out and dump it in the trash can. After that I wash it in the sink or bath tub. Simple :D

We clean our hammocks with an old toothbrush. I let it soak in the sink for a few minutes in hot water then just use the brush on it. We have 2 girls that insist on pooing on the hammock no matter where it is at in the tank. I gave up and just clean it every night.

Mine likes his dry hide. He'll back in there and go. He never goes in there otherwise. Makes it easy to clean though. It's a margarine bowl with a door cut out.

my Beardie is a frat boy. Hammock is a good spot, so is by the food bowl, a corner, or on his sitting tree it doesn't matter. The geckos have a corner picked out never thought of placing another tile in corner for a nice quick clean. I just placed tiles in and already i am wondering how i pull them out to clean. There so close to sides.
