Poor Little Guy: Craigslist Pickup

So I'm not NOT in the market for any more geckos :main_laugh:. But while browsing through the craigslist classifieds I come accross a cheap reptile tank with hides and dishes. Add said 'comes with free leopard gecko' So I email the link to set up a pickup and the guy says 'healthy' adult leopard gecko. He said to feed it 3-4 crickets 1-2 times per month . Anyways long story short I got him home and gave him a warm water soak to try to get some of the stuck shed off, as well as a bowl of mealies. He weighs 44 grams but is alert and eating well. I gave him a humid hide and I'm letting him rest for the night, tomorrow I'll try soaking him again and get him off the sand/dirt he's on :(

awww the poor little guy. His tail is so thin! I'll bet he's a beauty when he puts some weight on. He has such a cute face. So glad you got him!

I'm not sure how old he is, the guy said 3 or so. Even if you don't know much about geckos you'd have to notice that this guy doesn't look good. I was even given an instructional book, doesn't look like they ever opened it...

That's terrible. At least he will get proper care now. If he is eating good it should not take too long for him to start looking a lot better. Make sure you post "after" pictures.

Ill definitely keep you all updated with new pictures. It just stinks that people are keeping their pets in such poor condition.

So sad.. I'm glad he's found a new home where he'll be properly cared for. No animal deserves to starve like that :(

Looks like a healthy gecko aside from the fact that it's thin as a stick. Good luck getting him back in shape.

I think he might lose a few toes but I don't think he has mbd. At least his previous owners gave him calcium. I'm hoping for a jaw dropping turn around :D
