Poor little one - did anyone ever hatch out something like this?

Hi,

this poor little one hatched out yesterday. It's my first hatchling for this season. I guess that's a bad start :(
I don't know how many leopardgeckos I've hatched out over the last years but I've never had anything like this.
It's a pretty big hatchling. It did not absorb all of its yolk sack but it looks pretty strong.

But you can see what the problem is. It has big packages around its body. I do not know what it is. Seems to be water or air thats under the skin.

It moves not very much and seems to have some problems breathing.
I hope that it will make it. Did anyone ever hatch out something similar?

Regards,
Johannes

It is lymphatic fluid, and it may or may not go away on it's own. I've hatched two like that over the years, and one survived and the other didn't... so give the little one a chance and see what happens.

I took one in last year from a friend.
He had been given antibiotics when hatchling with no visual effect.
The wet took samples of the fluid but found nothing - He claimed that there was no infection in the fluid - but unfortunately he dies suddenly when he was about 6 month old.

He looked like this when he was a few month old - he was GORGEOUS and he is truly missed - I hornestly love the little one :)

I had one last year like that. It started out just a little "fat" and it got worse as it got older. It did seem able to eat and to breathe. You can find a picture of it on the forum from July or August '06; I called it "gecko with mumps". The fluid just got worse and worse and I had my brother who's a vet draw off some of the fluid with a sterile needle. He cultured it and there was no infection. Unfortunately the gecko went downhill after that. A vet perscribed bactrim as an antibiotic but it was too late.

Thank you all for your answers. But I have sad news: The little one died today. It looked a lot better. The head nearly looked normal after a few days. But it barely moved. It went into shed today, but didn't finish it.
I really hoped it would make it, but maybe its better this way :(

Did yours start eating? Is it as active as the "normal" ones?
The problem with the one that I had was that it did not start eating and did not move much. Even after it started to look better.
So I think if yours will eat and move than there's a good chance that it will survive. I really hope for you that it will make it.
