Poor Man's Rack

alright so I have absolutely no time to start building a rack nor am I going to spend hundreds of dollars on a professional rack system when I can easily "GHETTO IT". I went to Target and for $13.99 I got one of those steel-wire shelving units. Then measured and as it turns out I had enough space to fit two Men's shoe boxes from The Container Store in there. I bought 6 of them for just $21.45 and I used three old heat pads I had as heating. The entire thing came up to under $40. I am planning on buying a heat cable and a thermostat at the next reptile show. Here are the pics....

The only things that worries me, is I only seeing heat in 2 of the tubs. Then the thing is the metal hides, I worry about those getting over heated, by the heat pads. Other than that, it is great.

I agree.

Ya I almost "Ghetto'd It"

But everyone convinced me not to. I spend about 70 bucks for a 24-6qt hatchling rack.(not including the heat tape, alum tape, and thermostat)

Well worth it.

how about a layer of cardboard on every shelf? I've seen racks on this forum that look like this.

What brand are those tubs? My current rack uses Sterilite, but I'm needing another one and would like to use ones that are clearer like those.

You can also lay sheets of pegboard or another board on each shelf and tape the heat tape to the board. I modified two of those $30.00 metal racks on sale at Target in a pinch for extra rack space. Came out with a pretty decent rack for under $100 w/heat that holds 30/12qt tubs, or 40/6qt tubs, or 10/28qt tubs and 10/12qt tubs. I got the idea from another thread on this forum when I needed a quick rack and didn't want to build one and was already in target.
