Ok now I'm blusing... never thought of myself as "pin up" worthy :D but I know what you mean.

I would also try to call Zilla if that's who makes your thermostat to find out what the heck. Imo it really shouldn't have much of a grade 'cept maybe +/- 1-2 degrees honestly. Is there a 1-800 # on the box?

That looks really nice Greg... the tile looks almost identical to mine :) Are the moist hides the ones with the holes in them? Skippy is really handsome too :D

Thank you, yes the moist hides are the ones with the holes in them with moist paper towels in them. They are in the middle of the tank which is the hot side. I have read many different thoughts about if you should place the hide on the hot, middle or cool side. I have been switching it around from hot to the middle but he is really is not in there very much that I am aware of. He has only shed one time since we have had him and it went really well but not sure where he did most of it. Everytime we handle him we have started to put him in the moist hide when we put him back up. First 5 or 6 times he didn't want anything to do with it but last time he stayed in there for about an hour. Might try some moss instead of the paper towels.

My guy was tub raised and really seems to dislike his sphagnum moss. I guess he isn't use to the feel of it, but again he may use it when I'm not looking but I also added a moist hide with paper towels in tupperware as well since his last 2 sheds were kidna whacky. the sphagnum moss moist hide is not directly over the uth but just off the edge of it by about 4 inches, and the tupperware humid hide is directly on top of his hot side hide. I was thinking of trying some frog moss in his humid hide in the rock formation because it looks softer andmore velvety, maybe he'd like that better than the coarse sphagnum moss but I wonder if it has teh same antibacterial antifungal qualities that the sphag does. Eros sheds like every 2-3 weeks... a lot in my opinion but I guess he's still a growing boy at only 9 mos old. He's already all ghosted up fixin to shed again... geesh it seems like he's hardly ever outta shed :)

Wow. Thanks for this thread. Lots of information needed was answered.

Once again Kel, I feel like you are saving my geckos lol. My tank works decently but just got a 36X22 tank so i was researching more ways to make my tank awesome, which I came across this thread and all the info I needed was in one place :)

Also, the divider you have, is silicone safe? And can it be removed in the future? Will the geckos be "sad" or "confused" seeing another gecko on the other side and not being able to reach them? Mine seem to get along okay (sleeping together, eating together, etc) but I noticed a few marks (looks like bite marks) on one of them which they fought a few times when I first intorduced them but after that were fine...until now. So I'm seperating them just to be safe. I'm worried that they may be "attached" and be sad not being able to reach the other thru the glass lol Sounds silly but I'm being kind of motherly over them. I understand they don't have the capacity to think like that or have the emotions like that but yea. Just wondering. lol

Also, is the type of moss important? I just have the pet chain bought one (with a frog on it? can't remember the type). Works okay. Dries out quite a bit

P.s Tank looks good :) That hide on the left top corner (the one that is a dish and a hide) how do you find the hide in that? does your little fellow go in there much? is it too small?

LoL Awww spots... happy that my post could help. A ctually NCbeast and I go into it a few times on different threads about his set up and how to pefect it. Maybe search either his or my past threads thru our user profiles for more info if you're still curious. To answer your question about the silicone, they do make silicone specifically for aquariums so you should'nt have to worry about any health risks, you can remove dividers simply by cutting the silicone bead, and removing the panel. Most moss used is sphagnum moss which has antibacterial antifungal qualities which I think is best overall considering other mosses like frog moss might not have those qualities and after extended periods of time and resoaking could have issues with mold or fungus.

Hi - I am resurrecting this thread because I would like to know how the vinyl tile has been working out? I recently acquired two leos, put them in separate cages with vinyl floor tile as a substrate. One tank I got tile from Lowes, the other Home depot. After reading other sites general consensus that vinyl is a big no no due to possibly toxic fumes given off when heated I checked my tanks closely for any smell. The tile from Lowes had no smell whatsoever (that I could detect) whereas the Home Depot tile had a strong smell best described as 'new plastic'.
In any case I would really like to use the vinyl as it conducted heat perfectly, was easy to clean and generally seemed much easier than stone, ceramic tile, paper towel. It seems this site generally has a feeling that vinyl tile is ok - wondering how your geckos are getting along after an exetended period on vinyl substrate?

Thanks

The vinyl will do fine as long as you are not burning the adhesive whih would let off the fumes. I am not sure at what degree the adhesive would turn to a vapor but i do prefer to use tilea without the adhesives just to completely eliminate the risk.
