Hey guys, I have a Gecko Sitter for my two girls while I'm away on vacation, now I'm looking to have some sort of temporary motel while I'm away that I can transport to the sitter's house. I refuse to move that monster tank of mine to another place... glass and cement and transport doesn't sound like a good idea. I'm basically looking to do a mini rack system with a 32qt plastic container and build a shelving unit around it... I have a few questions though.

What material should I use for the shelf? How do I run the heat cable? Do I attach it to the floor of the shelving unit with tape? What kind of tape? Can anyone show me some pics of how they ran their cable in their racks? I want to use belly heat like they have in their tank now. I'll be using plastic rubbermaid type containers for hides and probably just paper towel for a substrate and to moisten up the hides... nothing too elaborate I just want it simple for my gecko sitter so she can just watch and feed and clean for them while I'm away since she's not experienced with geckos. Thanks for your help!!

where did you get your melamine? I'd rather use heat cable I hear it's safer. Anyone have any experience with it, how did you set it up under your tub?

Here's a much cheaper, easier solution: get one of the large faunariums. They are about 17"x12"x6". If you need to house them separately, they do come with a divider, but probably better to get 2. They are less than $10 each. Either use heat cable, a heat pad or a mini 1-5 gallon UTH. If you're getting 2 faunariums, I'd recommend getting heat cable, duct taping it to a piece of plexiglass in a configuration where you can heat the left side of one enclosure and the right side of the other one, and putting the enclosures on top of the heat cable (heat cable sandwiched between plexiglass and bottom of enclosure. I have done this before with no problem. The faunarium is useful in the future for transporting.
