My sister-in-law, Candy, needs your thoughts and prayers. She is my husband's brother's wife, just turned 37 years old, and they have 2 kids aged just 11 and almost 14. She is a devout Christian, a teacher at the Christian school their kids attend, a vivacious, witty, and bright woman. She was a music major and sings like an angel. I love her like my own sister.

She has just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the liver. This cancer is secondary to cancer somewhere else in her body, that has yet to be identified so they cannot even start a treatment (if it's even possible) until they find it. They have ruled out uterine, ovarian, colon, lung, stomach, or breast cancer... and have a strong suspicion it is from her pancreas. If so, there is no treatment or cure.

Our entire family is devastated for her and her family. Candy is only 37 years old! It is probable that she will die, and leave her her children motherless, her husband Bob without his wife, and her mother without her daughter. She says this scares her more than death itself.

Please join me and our family in your thoughts and prayers. This is the prayer I give to her:

Dear Father in Heaven,

Please hear our prayer and awaken us from this dream.

Candy’s body is sick and we are afraid and sad for her.

Whatever words we are supposed to say, whatever thoughts that would set her free, we are willing to have them shine into our minds, for we wish for her to be released from fear and suffering.

We wish for Candy to be lifted up beyond the regions of pain and despair and prepare her every cell to be born anew into health and happiness, peace and love.

We claim the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ within her, for her perfect health, perfect healing, and claim His perfect Self in whom there is no pain or fear.

May she always remember, dear Lord, that she lives in Your mind, and belongs in Your arms, for there she is healed, and there she is whole.

For You know her terror, although it does not seem real, and You understand her pain although it is not understandable.

May she surrender all fear, and surrender all pain to You, for You are her salvation, her doctor, and only through You can she be healed.

May she be willing to rise and let go of this, for this is not Your will that she should suffer.

May she trust You in all things, and accept Your healing, that her body and mind will be illuminated for Your sake and the sake of all the world.

Thank you, Lord.

Amen

Marcia, I'm so sorry your sister in law is going through this as well as your family. What a beautiful prayer you have writen for her Marcia. I will keep Candy and your family in my prayers.

She is only a year older than myself and right now my mortality scares the crap out of me for my son, I can imagine how that scares her as well.

I'm sorry to hear of you sister's affliction. I can only imagine what you're going through. But remember, John 11:4 "When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby." Psalm 34:19 "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all." Jeremiah 30:17 "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee on Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after."

May these scriptures be Words of comfort and I will pray for your family. Whatever God's Will be, let it be done; and let everyone be made at peace with it.

Candy just got back from the Oncologist's office where they went over all her tests. She has cancer in her lymphs glands all up her spine, around her lungs, and up into her clavicle area. They still cannot find the source of the cancer, other than having stage 4 liver cancer.

She has been on a medication for rheumatoid arthritis called Humira for about a year. All the research I have done indicates this drug (and other like them) can cause lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph system.

I am wondering if the cancer in her lymph glands IS the primary cancer.

Her prognosis is not good. She has chosen to start chemotherapy next Monday in hopes that it will slow the progression of her cancer.

I cannot imagine how afraid she must feel right now. I am afraid for her, too.
