I've got a lead on a Creamsickle enigma and was wondering what those run for on average. I know it depends on quality, etc.. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Who produced it? What line did it derive from? What line of Tangerine was used with it? Since I bred those for a while I know what different lines add or subtract to the quality of them as well as whose lines are worth getting into. A LOT (almost all) of the Creamsicles I see for sale are not worth more than $75 in my opinion, simply due to lack of time in the project. It takes 2-3 years after buying one before I personally feel they have a distinct look to them and will hold their colors throughout breeding and maturity. A Cream Enigma should be between $75-150 unless they are from proven lines with lineage then you can add $50-100 for them. Obviously it all boils down to if you like it or not and if you think its worth it.
Exactly...It's actually from craigslist and I haven't got a reply from the seller yet. Just based on the ad, it seems like they know what they're doing to an extent, but we'll see. I'll definitely ask them where they got it/lineage etc. I just really like the look of them (especially enigmas in general). I might breed down the line (depending on A LOT of things, especially lineage of this guy), but we'll see.
I will simply say that anyone who invest quality time into their animals will NOT be selling them on CL. That is advertising which has NO target audience for true reptile hobbyists. If I put YEARS into my animals I am not going to market on CL...especially when there are so many FREE avenues to advertise on reptile sites.
Sounds like someone took a cream and a enigma, bred them, and are now trying to get rid of young, Imo, and this is just my opinion, theres a good chance its not even cream. Definitely get a pic of the animal with the days news paper headline in it(date).
Only invest in Creams from someone who is doing it right and not just labeling mack hypos with a little color as a cream. I have many threads on here which I discuss Creams and have images of all sorts of them. But basically this is the transformation of a high orange Cream project I was working on;
Any animal (especially ones with line bred traits)..you WILL get what you pay for. Anyone producing quality will charge you for such.
Thanks so much for the tips and photos. They said it was a proven male, but I have yet to get a response, so it may be a moot point. I am interested in creamsickles though. Do you have any available?
No I gave that project to my brother due to scaling back for our baby last year. I will/should be getting them back this year. Just deciding what all I want to embark on these days.
