Pro Exotics fire

Sorry to relay some very tragic news. A colleague of ours, Pro Exotics, one of the biggest breeders of high end snakes in the US, has sadly burnt to the ground, killing all 3000 snakes inside. Some of the snakes were 20 years in development.

This very sad news affects us all, and our hearts go out to Pro Exotics and of course to all the snakes that helplessly perished in this awful event.

It's so sad to look at all of the other pictures they have up knowing that each and every one of those amazing snakes are now gone. Can't imagine the feeling of all that work being gone in an instant. Good luck to the guys at Pro Exotics in getting back on their feet again.

That is so sad. I agree with Melissa..maybe there will be a post later where we can donate money to help them out.

Probably one of the most valueable ways to give back would be for folks that have recently purchased some of their animals, offer to sell back or offer next years hatchlings back ect. There genetics that were lost are probably the most painful thing to deal with. I'm sure that Insurance can pay for the building and racks/supplies and such, but the genetics that they had built up over the years is almost irreplaceable. Every breeders nightmare....

This is very sad but I honestly don't think it's about the money at this point. I'm sure they had insurance, and to be honest, it's all about the poor animals that are irreplaceable. All the money in the world can't replace one of a kind snakes. The owner was a former NFL player. My thoughts and prayers go out to them. Hopefully they will rebuild and go from there.

I agree. I dont think they are even thinking of the money because I am sure they have insurance but the genetics and the animals themselves that were lost has got to be the most painful thing.

Wow, this is absolutely devastating news. My thoughts and prayers go out to PE, losing all those animals is such a tragic loss. What's extremely sickening to me is that you can see the bodies of some snakes in the photo above...

I don't have snakes...do you know if they dealt in Leo's? I would be very willing to donate a couple of hatchlings to them next spring!!

I know that they are definitely not thinking about the money, yes some people do make money off of breeding reptiles, but it is still a hobby whether you make money or not. No one would keep and breed reptiles if they did not have a passion for it. That being said, I think a donation from every person on this site would be very appreciated, Just the fact that Pro exotics would see that we care so much to donate would get them back on their feet faster than just money. If every person on this site could donate 10 bucks(or more if you would like) then that could add up to a good amount of money. But thank god no staff or family got killed.

I do not think they had any leos, but they had some amazing lizards like various rare monitors, gila monsters, etc. Their care was top notch and they were wonderful, caring reptile people who ran an excellent operation. This is devastating beyond words, and while there is likely not much we can do at least at this time, I'm sure it provides some comfort to them to know everyone cares greatly and wants to help them. That alone undoubtedly means a lot to them.
