Keep new guys in their own enclosure away from your other reptiles or bad things will happen.

You will die in 7 days if you do not properly Quarantine new reptiles!

Ok seriously its important to make sure your new arrivals are healthy and disease free before introducing them to other reptiles.

Thank you!

Thanks for posting this, it needs to be said. I'm seeing way to many posts lately of people just plopping new additions in with their other geckos. I just have a question (since I've never had to quarantine before), how long should a newbie be quarantined for if they are appearing healthy and eating/pooping well?

I would say 4-6 weeks, some people might say longer.

Always wash your hands between handling/cleaning new and old reptiles stuff. Parasites and the like can transfer even if you dont handle the reptile.

I'm going to quarantine my new female for at least 3 months before I introduce her to my other gecko. It is possible for a gecko to have an illness/ parasites and not show any symptoms for a while. Some people may make the mistake and introduce the sickening gecko to another. It's better to be safe than sorry :)

I would like to add to be sure to have a fecal done as soon as you get the animal so you can treat it for parasites before it come out of Quarantine... it can sometimes take a couple of courses of meds, so the earlier the better... and make sure to have a final fecal done before removing it from Q

i know its important to quarentine and all that good stuff buuuut...ive had beardies and cresteds for a while. im finally adding some leos into the mix. i have my tank all set up and im getting 2 females and 1 male from a very respected owner. theyve been living together since they hatched pretty much lol and theyre 2 years old now. should i still quarentine each seperately or can i just put them into their cage? ive never bought more than 1 at a time so i dont really know how its supposed to work with all 3 :)
any info would be nice :)
thanks in advance

In my opinion, if you are getting geckos from the same place at the same time you should be able to keep them together, just not with other geckos that you already had.

Quarantining them all individually is best. One may be sick and the others might be fine, but keeping a sick gecko with other geckos is a recipe for disaster. Then you only have to deal with one sick gecko instead of 3.

i know it seems best to do it if theyre bought seperate...but theyve been living together for 2 years. to my knowledge there hasnt been any sickness *with any of his geckos lol* i dont really have 3 seperate tanks and 3 seperate heat pads and all the neccesities to go along with the tanks i was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences good or bad :)
thanks for the posts btw-ill have pictures up when i get them this weekend :)
