Quarantine!!!

So now I know why everyone says you must quarantine a new gecko. On the advise of the great people on the forum I took my 2 geckos poo for fecal exams. My 2 year old was fine, but my new girl has pin worms. I just posted pictures yesterday of how much she has grown in under one month. She eats like a pig is growing fast and looks as healthy as could be. I now know, just because your gecko looks fine is eating fine doesn't mean they are healthy.

Thanks to those of you that preach to get fecal exams and to quarantine new geckos. This thread has pictures of her: http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=54564

Around.
:main_thumbsup: Good for you most people think that because they bought the animal from a petstore that they are disposable. I hope you got some meds for her and everything get's cleared up!

Yup, She had one dose of panacur today and then another to come in 15 days. Vet says that should do it . The vet also wants another fecal after both treatments.

good deal! pinworms are minor and can be treated very easily but the fact that you took your time to have her checked and quarantined is awesome!

bravo!

Sounds like you have a vet that actually knows what they're talking about. Good for you! I'm proud of my fellow GeckoForums member, LOL. Pinworms can lead to future problems and can indicate the presence of other intestinal parasites as well, such as Coccidia. Probably one of the reasons your vet needed another sample. Good for you!

I agree, great job!!! :)

To give credit Jeanene is the "people" who advised me to get fecal exams on all new geckos. I said people and not person because I also read some old threads, but Jeanene was nice enough to respond to my question with very good advise. Thanks again
