Ei guys im new here and a new breeder as well

i got a pair of gecko last two years ago and this season i decided to breed them,,
i understand that the 1st and 2nd clutches didnt go thru due to infertility but the the 3rd and 7th go well leaving me 8 hatchlings and 3 eggs incubated right now,, but last 2 weeks ago my female layed her 8th clutch,, and the egg is kinda deformed or something and it only take few days of incubation before it gets moldy,, by now i check my female and look at her abdomen i can still see 3 eggs and shes prepairing to lay for her 9th clutch..

My question are??
Are this set eggs are going to be unfertilize as the 8th clutch??

Do i need to seperate now the male since that im starting to to have infertile egss?? And wait for next season??

Thanks for the answers

You'll have to wait and see.

Are you using suppliments? Whats your calcium / vitamin schedule?

Leopard geckos can only lay 2 eggs at a time, never 3. Maybe you're seeing fat deposits? She'll keep laying until she's done, regardless of the male. Many females have a rocky first season of breeding; a lot of infertile eggs. If the male seems to be stressing her out I would separate them, otherwise you can leave them together safely as long as he doesn't try mating with her until next year.

Where did you hear they can only lay two?

There have been occasional instances of leopard geckos laying 3 eggs in a clutch but it's not common. It's a bit more common to get a 1-egg clutch, but the rule is generally 2.

I think he's seeing the developing eggs for the next clutch and an additional ovulation. As for infertile eggs, just one mating session is usually enough to fertilize all the eggs for the season. Try to keep your temps as stable as possible, make sure your eggs don't dehydrate, and supplement well; the rest is out of our control and in the hand of the gecko gods.
