No snarkyness intended, tbh i thought he was being a little snarky with Kel from when i first read it.
Your call, i apologise.

No need to apologize to me. :main_yes:

I am curious about the sort of underlying negative comments to this person. Is it because you disagree with him introducing his geckos for breeding or is there something else I am unaware of. Just wondering.

personally, i dont know what Kel thinks as such, but i just get the impression that from the questions the person is asking then it seems a little too early to be breeding, and also maybe a bit unnecessary.
Its why i was curious about why he wanted to introduce them, because if he said 'to breed them' then either me or Kel could have explained that there's alot of research to be done and a bit more experienced to be gained :)

Understood, but let's remember to be courteous to other members. In all fairness to the new GF member, we do not know his herpetocultural background. Many of us started out with a pair of normal leopard geckos and learned as we went along. Just a reminder that everyone is here to learn and not to be judged by others who may not have much more experience than they do.

We want everyone to feel welcome here, and we want everyone to feel comfortable in asking questions.

The reason I asked why he wanted to introduce them was so that if it were for breeding to provide him with some useful information/links to educate himself more on the proper breeding practices, or just co-habitating that he could get the information needed to make it a smooth transition and caution him of the potential dangers that could lie with introducing a male/female in a cohabitating situation.

I was trying to gather more information so I could BE helpful and he replied with his (what I found as) snarky remark.

My intentions are to bring them together in a new, larger tank. As for Jordans Comment "unfortuantely we do know the intent... unfortunately we do *sigh*", why is it so unfortunate to give them a new bigger home to share? Please explain.

You do know that putting a male and female in a tank together will lead to breeding right? Are you prepared for the challenges of breeding leos? Are you comfortable with your knowledge of leos to be able to properly sustain a breeding pair and their clutches? If not then I would suggest the larger housing but with a divider so that they aren't actually "together".

No way, you mean if I put a male and female together in a tank by themselves they'll do the naughty? Never would of thought.. What are you anyway, the Leo police? Relax man. That entire post would of been helpful with the last sentence only.

Well, prior to you even posting in this thread, he did state-

Thinking about maybe breeding them once I do a little more research on it. Also I need to weigh the female to make sure she's large enough, and as of right now, no eggs seen in her belly.

Sounds to me like he is wanting to do some research because he is thinking about breeding his geckos. Nothing wrong with that, especially since he asking questions and trying to learn more prior to doing so. That's a good thing! :main_thumbsup:

Ensiferum321, we have many experienced keepers and breeders here that will be happy to help you if you do decide to breed your geckos. I commend you for asking questions first and trying to learn more prior to attempting to breed. There is nothing wrong with keeping a pair together year round; of course you need to pay special attention immediately after putting them together because occasionally you might have a pair of geckos that are not compatible. That however is pretty rare. Really once you are satisfied that they are compatible, the only other thing to keep in mind is that when you have 1.1 together for an extended period of time, the male will keep breeding or attempting to breed your female. Basically during the breeding season he will be pestering her all the time (you know how guys are LOL). That is why I actually recommend keeping leopard geckos in groups of at least 1.2, so that the male can, well, alternate. :p

Let us know if you have any other questions, and best of luck if you do decide you (and your geckos!) are ready to try reproducing leos.

I don't think the male considers it naughty but the female may think he's being naughty by bothering her all the time :main_evilgrin:

Thanks for that info, I've been checking the female for signs of eggs once every couple weeks, with no signs yet. I am going to try and introduce them before she has any, just to see how they do for a couple weeks. I'll keep everyone posted.

Also thank you everyone for the welcomes and kind gestures. :main_thumbsup:
