question about potential R.A.P.T.OR projects

I just bought my first leopard gecko ever. He was sold to me as a Tremper Albino RAPTOR het. His dam is a Tremper Albino and sire is a RAPTOR.
Although, the tremper albino part of RAPTOR would be a bit redundant.
As confusing as it all is, I'm loving the genetic side of leopard geckos, it's actually the reason i decided on leos isntead of other reptiles to get into. Just wondering what 'projects' would be worth pursuing? Which morphs (females) should I keep my eyes out for to possibly mate him to next year?

Just want to comment on how friendly everyone is here! I've been reading a bunch of past threads, and have learned so much, even though there's still so much more to learn. It's a nice break from the bitchiness of dog show politics! :main_thumbsup:

Here's a pic of the little guy Magnum

I would go with another het Raptor that isn't banded, maybe a stripe or reverse stripe. That way you would have the possibility of getting some Ruby eyes and you'd get lot's of different patterns. If you got a non-Albino het Raptor(Tremper) then you'd get a mix of Albinos and non-Albinos.

Stick with leos within the tremper albino realm. If you worked with blazing blizzards, you may eventually produce diablo blancos. You might also be able to breed the ruby eye gene or eclipse gene into some other morphs with some long term projects.

A raptor or aptor het raptor is a good way to go.

Reverse stripe or stripe albino should give you a decent percentage of stripe/reverse offspring as well.

I am probably the farthest one from being an expert here, but this is some of what I have learned so far. Anyone may feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

He looks very nice, by the way. Show us some body shots.

Cant go wrong with a female RAPTOR or a Female Jungle/Stripe Tremper 100% Het RAPTOR.

I would go with a super snow het raptor. this would give you some lighter colors.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I a few newbie questions, hope someone can take the time to explain to me

What is the difference between a Murphy's Patternless and a Blazing Blizzard (looks about the same to me)? I assume the BB was used to produce Diablo Blanco?
Also, what would a Mack Snow X Tremper Albino RAPTOR het produce? Would it be worth trying at all?
Also, I've just read on leopard gecko wiki that "Alberto Cadolini from A&M Geckos and Ron Tremper have crossed Mack Snows with R.A.P.T.O.R.'s creating what Ron calls a Super R.A.P.T.O.R. A Super R.A.P.T.O.R. is an all white Leopard Gecko with Red Eyes."

Then I read "When comparing a Super RAPTOR to a Diablo Blanco they are both white Leopard Geckos with ruby red eyes. The only way to tell the two apart is to know the history of the parents. "

Well, if they look the same...what will the offsprings look like if they're crossed?
The only difference between them genetically is that one was produced using the Blazing Blizzard, resulting in a Diablo Blanco, the other, Super RAPTOR was produced by using the Mack Snow?
I guess my next question would be, why are their two different 'genetic morphs' for something that looks the same phenotypically?

Anyyywaaayy, here's a full body shot of Magnum in natural lighting

those are very good questions, I've never understood why there would be two different genetic morphs that look the same phenotypically...

Well if you breed a Diablo Blanco to a Normal you would produce Normals Triple Het for Eclipse and Tremper(AKA RAPTOR), and Blizzard. When you breed a SUPER RAPTOR to a Normal you should produce Normals Het For Tremper and Eclipse(RAPTOR), and Mack Snows 100% Het for Eclipse and Tremper(RAPTOR).

Hope this helped.

well technically theres 3 b/c the super snow blazing blizzard is also all white with solid red eyes.

super raptor x diablo blanco would give you 100% mack snows all should be at least albinos with eclipse eyes and would have various patterns and then be het blizzard, theoretically at least

If you really think about it, there are many more than 2 ways to create a white gecko with red eyes--if we're not careful, geckos could eventually end up like lab mice/rats--all white with red eyes
