I can't seem to find much information on them.
Is this a recessive trait? Can the stripe gene be passed into other morphs as well?

Any info you have would be helpful.

All variations of Bold stripes in leopard geckos, whether it be Bold Stripe or Reverse Stripe, or morphs such as Bandit or Halloween Mask, are polygenic traits, meaning that the can only be refined and increased by line breeding. It is typically achieved by breeding offspring with the most desirable looking traits together, taking their best-looking offspring and breeding them together, so on and so forth until the desired gecko is produced. They are not dominant, codominant, or recessive traits.

This is my first year with stripes and i still have many eggs that have not hatched yet. I bred 2 bold stripes together and so far i have gotten 2 jungles and 3 bold stripes. i will keep updated as more hatch out to see what the percentage of stripes vs jungles are.

I don't believe stripes are simple line bred traits. Taking a Bold Stripe for instance. I can breed two of my best bold stripes and get 90% Bold Stripes and 10% Jungle Stripes. Staying on Bold Stripes as to keep this a little less confusing...I believe Bold and Stripe are two different aspects of the morph. Bold acts Polygenic and Stripe acts Recessive. The bold can be improved upon and the quality and contrast are dependent of lineage and representation. Stripes however, ACT recessive...key word is act because it is not a true recessive. If you breed a Bold Stripe to a normal (not factoring in Bold) you will typically get normals and jungles. You take any of these babies (hets) and breed them to a Bold Stripe and 50+% of your babies will TYPICALLY be Stripes animals. I know it is not a Recessive trait because Stripe x Stripe does not = 100% stripes. But it is also not Polygenetic because of years of proven "hets" throwing out predictable offspring of a different phenotype than the parents.

As far as striped being passed into other morphs...yes it can. Depending on the type of stripe it can take 1-2 season or more. Of course the more time in the project the better the quality of stripe.
