everyone knows i breed a lot of snakes and i have my preferences.. so this is just a question for all of you out there cause im curious. IMO cypress is the best bedding (i use it for all my snakes)... i see a couple of you like to use aspen. is there a reason why? if not cool... but like i said just curious, not that im looking to switch cause i have used aspen and i just prefer cypress... :D :D

thanks all

I like using aspen for containers that are going to be kept dryer IMO the cypress is better for more humid environments. I use both but like cypress for the boas/pythons and aspen for colubrids. though not strictly.

I second this. Cypress is great mixed with cocofiber for humidity. :) Looks nice too.

I've stopped using aspen and mainly use new print or paper towels. I never used cypress because it bothered my allergies more than aspen, but aspen bothers it too, so I've stopped using that as well, just keep the reptile room's humidity up or mist when needed to keep it up.

Here in Mexico, Cypress is much expensive, in USA too I think, I have seen that is more cheaper to buy a big bag of Harlan Aspen, than a big bag of Cypress, they're both excelent substrates, but I think some prefere Aspen because is more cheaper..

I used aspen because I have issues with TOO much humidity. Cpyress actually would mold. Now I use newspaper mostly, because aspen got scarce. My usual sources went to pine instead, or in the case of Tractor Supply, it was aspen sawdust when I opened it up, and I didn't like it.
The newspaper works fine, easy to clean, and is free, and it's recycling!
