I put my leopard geckos together on sunday of last week. They mated (though I didnt see it happen) and are now acting normal around each other. I have a nest box that I spray everyday, vermiculite in it. It has a hole in the side and a hole in the lid. My female never goes in there, is that normal. Extra Info: The nest box is on the warm side of the cage, also no visible changes in the female. She is still with the male should I take her out and put her back in her own cage. Im a first time breeder and I thought that I knew most of the stuff from research, but its a lot harder then I thought.

Unless you live in the southern hemisphere, gecko breeding season is largely over. Some geckos do ovulate in the fall but it's more common in the spring and early summer. Your female may take a few weeks to lay if she's ovulating. Google "leopard gecko ovulation" and get some images of what it looks like, because you can see it. If she is ovulating and the eggs do become fertile, you will be able to see them in her belly when they get big. She will go into the lay box when she's ready to lay. Or not. Some first timers lay their eggs in the weirdest places. Sometimes it's because the eggs aren't fertile. If she's not ovulating, just hang on till Jan. or Feb. Feel free to ask more questions if you have them. I'm in my 9th season of leopard gecko breeding and no one has laid since early Aug. (which is fortunate because I'm overrun with baby leos at the moment).
