Raccoons like cat food

I went outside last night to check on Tina, they stray cat I posted about a couple weeks ago to find this raccoon to my surprise enjoying her food.

This guy I'm assuming from size was very friendly and let us sit and stare. He ate and left. Maybe next time I wont put tuna out.

Raccoons will eat just about anything. Where I used to live we had a lot of them. They will eat cat and dog food, bird seed, garbage, and we even had them pull ears of corn through fencing as well as all sorts of other vegetables out of our garden.

They are cute..and love to eat everything BUT they are extremely destructive.... you might need to call animal control to come remove him and take him somewhere save. I love that last pic!!!

They DEFINITELY like cat food. When I was younger we lived in these apartments that were bordered by a forrest. Every night this woman would lay out 5 bags of cat food and HUNDREDS of racoons would come eat. It was very disturbing! They had to come trap them all because they started tearing the apartment buildings up, looking for food.

i have a friend who has a kit from this years season, it was in her backyard and no parents or siblings so shes raising it, its being bottle fed its itty bitty.
they can be sweet

Lucky she let you get that close. In all of my raccoon experiences they have hissed, snarled, and done just about everything to scare me off, including the odd one foaming at the mouth. If I were you, I wouldn't trust that thing, as cute as they are, I always picture them standing over top of me clawing at my eyeballs.....no thanks!

Thanks for laugh....sorry your raccoon visits have not been as pleasant as mine.

He came back last night ate and left. I don't need a zoo here but I just don't have the heart to run him off. I could just let the dogs outside, but I like the little guy, and Tina the stray cat also gets along with him!
