Today I was in K-Mart and found this tubs. They are completely closed in the back and lateral sides. My mind rapidly jump in the conclusion that this tubs could be used to make a wonderful cheap rack for leopard geckos or baby ball pythons. Any of you guy already use them?

I have a tank on top of those. I use the bins for my mealworms crickets. Just gotts be careful because they are not toooo stable. Still pretty good if you balance them right.

Where and what type of heat source are you using? My only guess would be heat tape with at the back and that you simply placed some holes along the tubs for ventilation.

I place heat mats (zoomed 1-5 gal--those are safe to use on plastic) on the INSIDE of each tub, and then put paper over it. I run the plug out of the gap in the side (there's a centimeter or two gap at the top that provides enough ventilation) and plug it in that way. It works well.

With the ones you're considering using, Minguela, if you put the heat mat toward the front, you could snake the plug out of the top of the drawer, where that gap is...

i used them...DONT USE THEM unless you want geckos running around . lol i had some adult geckos and 2 of them would use there air holes like a latter or even just line up with the "handle" and jump up there stick there nose in the top part till it became a gap, and i had Countless numbers of them getting out and when i noticed they had been gone it wasnt even open a half inch. so if you do use them Make sure you use some kinda locking door thing, i used tape till i changed them back to bins.

notice the little space at the lid, they lean over and stick there noses up in to it to get it to open.

Maybe mine just aren't that good at escaping then. Though, I guess the design of mine is slightly different than yours. I've NEVER had one escape from those and I've kept all ages of geckos in there--ranging from just a month old to around 5 years. They've been in there for months...

Thermostat

I was about to ask for a recommendation for a thermostat but since it came up. What type do you use?

I'll have to look into those racks at walmart for the future. Did you just lay paper from the printer down?

I used the Zilla Temp Controller

(replace w w w . * * * * * with w w w . p e t c o)

And usually cardstock to line the cages (scrapbooking paper) when I run out of that, regular construction paper works just fine. Computer paper is a little to thin, though I have used it. You'll probably have to double or triple up on it though. Measure the temp on it to be sure

We tried a similar set up, and ours escaped all the time! I would not suggest using them. I would hate for you to lose any geckos!
