ok.

I moved in with someone two months ago and now i moved out. I have my geckos at the house still and shes paying to feed them ect. I have four eggs due in about a week as well. She has geckos and dragons and snakes so its not THAT much more work for her to feed 3 more every day. My question is how do i go about getting them back? do I ask her to ship them and I will pay her ( I moved 7 hours away from her) . Do I ask her to ship the two that I have to have and 3 of the babies ( i have one female who is stressed easily and I'd just as easily not ship her) and let her keep the other ones. . .

Thoughts?

I think that it sounds fair for you to ask her to ship them if you pay. They are your geckos after all.

I'm a little puzzled by your situation. When you titled this "my roomate stole my geckos" did you really mean that, or was it a joke? In other words, do you have any reason to think that she won't work with you to get them back to you? Did you leave that living situation on good terms or not? (also, where are the eggs, with you or with her? What are you planning to do about them?) If you left on good terms, maybe you can suggest several options and see what she likes more. Any chance you are going to be back that way and can pick them up? If you suspect she's going to cause a problem, the best bet is to figure out for yourself what you're willing to live with and how far you'd be willing to go (I once took someone to small claims court for accepting my payment for a gecko to be shipped and then not sending it. I not only sued him for the gecko and shipping cost, but also the cost of my round trip plane ticket to appear in court). Then you can start with the option that does the least harm to her and proceed step by step to the most punishing, giving her the chance to work with you.

myself I would set up a time with her to pick them up cause surley a 7 hr drive there and back wouldn't cost anymore than shipping and would be a whole lot less stressfull on the leos.

Have you not seen gas prices lately?????/ I think shipping would be far cheaper than driving 7 hours......

I just came back from a weekend at Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is about a 4 hour drive from where I Live. In gas I spent $75.00 round trip. I drive a truck with a V6. So I would drive and pick the leopard geckos and babbies up and drive home with them. I will cost you more to have them shipped to you then you have too stress if she packged them right or not. Also If you are so worried about them now, why didn't you take them when you moved out?

A 7 hour drive is 14 hours round trip...That will cost more to drive than to pay shipping...unless you have a hybrid...

are you shipping just geckos, or geckos and tanks? Thant would make a big difference. Also, what confidence do you have that they will be shipped correctly? Just a few thoughts, good luck!

Yes my job consists of driving so I see the cost daily. But I guess if you really don't place a high value on the stress shipping causes then shipping might be cheaper but I just had one(and your talking 3 plus babbies) shipped to me 3 weeks ago and it was 21.00 plus the leo didn't eat for 10 days and still only eats a little and runs to his hide at most noise and movement around his tank. So myself I would spend the 70.00 I drive a 4 cyl car and know I could drive 14 hrs on less than 2 tanks
