I don't mind new comers having websites to show off what they have or to get a start on promoting what they will have some day.

My issues is the ones that don't know what they are talking about or have no expierence and are giving advice to those that really need someone that knows what they are talking about.

I have no issue with someone having a website. At what point do you think they are allowed to show off thier geckos?

That said, if they are representing themselves as experts, giving poor advice, or copying caresheets without permission, then yeah, I have an issue with that. But I'll happily put my geckos on a site as much as I want. I just won't misrepresent my knowledge, because I'm very new at them.

I have to admit, I just went looking for http://www.dookiebrownsgeckos.com/ out of curiousity. :main_laugh:

I think if you are knowledgeable on any subject it will shine through. People can be duped into believing false information, but anyone worth their salt will look for more than one source of information to compare, contrast and evaluate. Everyone has an opinion and their own way of doing things, in this case if the animals are healthy the ends justify the means. As far as breeding goes, it doesn't take much to look up the correct information, but I do agree that not everyone is qualified to assess genetics. We all learn at some point, just be careful where you get your advice.

Um... ya.. . me too! But I understand that's why.. I don't want to breed geckos anytime soon! I like collecting, it seems like there are too little of us out there.

I still consider myself a novice breeder and am unsure about when one qualifies as otherwise being that the hobby will continue to evolve with different genetic combinations and mutations. I have produced some very nice combinations and I would like to think I do well, but I have no problem recognizing that there are others who have been at this a lot longer than myself. I aspire to do my best and I'm thankful to anyone who shares their knowledge with me in regard to breeding reptiles. The fact is, no one has all of the answers.
