RAPTORs and SHTs

I was planning to pair my SHTCT male with my RAPTOR female. They both have a fair amount of carrot tail on them. I noticed that several breeders have projects to enhance the carrot tails and heads of RAPTORS and wonder if it has any connection to the colors on SHTCTs? So basically I'm wondering if:
  1. I could expect SHT offspring from the pairing? - I know the "OR" in RAPTOR stands for orange but don't know if its because they're orange in color as they are or because their non-albino color would be orange or some form of SHT.
  2. The carroting on the RAPTOR could/would contribute to better carrot tails or more intense SHT color in offspring?

Thanks!

You could expect to get some normals as well I believe, unless your SHT is het for tremper.

Thanks for the response. I checked out the morph calculator and that makes sense. I didn't realize hypo was a dominant gene. My brain somehow convinced itself it was line bred from high yellows.

I guess since Hypo is dominant a RAPTOR cannot have a gene for it or it would be a hybino? If so, that would also mean the carrot tail on a SHT gecko has absolutely nothing to do with the carrot tail on the RAPTOR? Does anyone know where the carroting stems from on RAPTORs?

Thanks again :)

I believe that both tendency toward hypo and carrot tail are both line bred/polygenetic. All the offspring will be het for albino and eclipse. There will be a range of carroting, hypo and tang color (obviously, hold back the best ones and breed them to each other, to a parent or to a new nice tang/carrot tail) and due to the stripe genetics in the raptor, there will be aberrent, jungle and possibly striped offspring as well. The OR of the "raptor" does mean orange, and a good raptor is also a tangerine albino.

Awesome. The RAPTOR I picked up was part of Ohio Gecko's red stripe project and has some really nice splotches of bright orange on her so I was hoping for a nice variety of offspring. Thanks for the response and great information!!
