anyone every tried crossing the two? what distinctions between the two would you consider? they are both line bred traits, correct? anyone working on bold red stripes?
That's my plan in April once my bold stripe is big enough. Since the red stripe male has produced bold stripes in the past, I'm expecting some of the offspring to be bold stripe but I'm not expecting dark red stripes or anything like that. Maybe bold stripes with more of a tang body color.
As Aliza said, I doubt you will get bold red stripes. Red stripes come from crossing two colors...in which black is not one of them...so I think you would get varying degrees of stripes with varying degrees of Tangerine. After a few years you may have something very unique but I don't think the first year or two will yield something amazing. Still think it would be a fun project to do.
thanks for the answers. So basically the red stripes haven't gotten to being thick dorsal stripes quite yet but it can be achieved through line breeding theoretically
